With The Bachelor set to kick off on Wednesday night, the only thing left before popping the champagne and settling in was Bachelor Jimmy Nicholson appearing on The Project.
And that could only mean one thing … the handsome bachelor was to come face-to-face with his confessed ‘celebrity crush’, Carrie Bickmore.
Joining the show, Peter Helliar asked Jimmy how meeting the 24 girls on The Bachelor compared to meeting his “No. 1 celebrity crush Carrie Bickmore?”
Oh, and it was very awkward.
“Hi, Jimmy,” Carrie cringed.

“Oh the chemistry! Where are the roses?” Pete yelled.
“I tried to get the roses delivered but they couldn’t make it happen,” Jimmy laughed.
“You obvious have a girlfriend now and Carrie, are you in a long-term relationship …” added Peter, with Carrie cutting him off, saying, “What are you suggesting?”
“A double date!” Pete laughed.
“That is weird, Pete,” an embarrassed Carrie added, swiftly moving on with a new questions for Jimmy. “You say your parents are still in love to this day. Is that what made you want to go on the show?” she asked.
“Yes, my parents have been married for over 40 years, when the opportunity presented itself, I thought this is the real deal. They get great girls on this show and they source them from all around Australia. I want what my parents have. As you can see in the snippets, it is really nice and I think I have found her,” answered Jimmy.
Things got even more awkward toward the end of the interview, with Carrie admitting, “They left the last question for me to ask about the Mile High Club, which was really weird.”
“I would never expect that from you, Carrie,” a very charming Jimmy added.
Jimmy made the revelation about his ‘Carrie crush’ when chatting to news.com.au last week.
In a bid to get to know Jimmy before his season of The Bachelor kicks off on July 21, he was asked a series of rapid fire questions.
When asked who his celebrity crush was, he quickly responded, “Carrie Bickmore.”
“I just think she looks like a really nice person and she’s very beautiful. She’s wife material.”
Hilariously, the segment was aired on The Project shortly after, much to Carrie’s embarrassment.
The host immediately tried to change the subject but her Project co-hosts kept teasing her about Jimmy’s confession.
“Are you entering The Bachelor, the competition?” Peter Helliar asked.
“No!” Carrie replied.
A giggly Kate Langbroek said, “he got really properly crushy” and Waleed Aly added: “Is it a strange thing to say when you are about to date 20 women at once?”

Jimmy told news.com.au said he’s never met The Project star, so his appearance now was a monumentous occasion.
“Look, it’s very lovely and I’m very, very flattered,” she said on the Hit Radio station Carrie and Tommy about Jimmy’s crush.
Jimmy also revealed that he has found love and is officially off the market.
“I have found love. I’m really, really happy,” he said. “She’s amazing. We chat multiple times a day, a lot of Facetime at the moment, and I’m really happy, so it’s good.”
