Celebrity Apprentice winner finally crowned after explosive season - NEWS.com.au

The Celebrity Apprentice winner has finally been crowned after a tumultuous season of boardroom dummy spits and off-screen scandals.

Ross Noble and Shaynna Blaze were given the final task of planning and hosting a VIP charity event in just two days, with the contestant who raised the most money victorious.

Not one to think inside the box, comedian Ross called on former teammate Wippa and comedian Sam Pang for help organising his unique event: “the experience of robbing a bank”, explosives and all, to raise money for the Australian Red Cross.

Meanwhile, Shaynna went the conservative route with a charity auction for her anti-domestic violence foundation, Voice of Change, performing a song she’d written especially for the occasion in front of glamorous guests including The Block’s Scott Cam.

When it came to the final boardroom, boss Lord Alan Sugar asked them each to reveal why they’d chosen their specific charities.

In an emotional speech, Shaynna said her passion for giving victims of domestic violence a voice comes after having not been “unscathed” by domestic violence herself.

Similarly, having lost his home in a fire, Ross’ support for the Australian Red Cross comes from a personal cause, too.

Ultimately, Shaynna’s charity auction raised the most money, raking in a massive $326,000, while Ross’ bank heist experience made an impressive $83,500.

The Block star was named the winner, scoring a further $100,000 for Voice of Change.

Over the course of the series, Shaynna managed to raise a total of $475,000, a new record for the Australian Celebrity Apprentice.

Shaynna and Lord Alan Sugar’s off-screen clash

Shaynna’s appearance in the finale comes after a cruel public sledging from Lord Alan Sugar, who remarked that she had “a face like a slapped arse” during a live radio interview on Nova earlier this month.

Lord Sugar was criticising the interior designer for not smiling enough on the show along with Fitzy and Wippa’s co-host Sarah McGilvray, who said Shaynna “scowled a lot” and “looked like she was sucking on a lemon”.

Responding to the nasty segment on the same radio show a week later, Shaynna said she was “grateful” to publicly address the comments.

“You can’t talk about people and their physical appearance in a derogatory way to get a cheap laugh. We’ve gone past that. The world isn’t like that anymore,” she said.

Shaynna went on to stress the importance of “calling out” Lord Sugar for his comments.

“(By) not calling them out publicly or straight away, you’re enabling that and meaning they feel they can get away with it,” she said on Nova.

“One of the things that was pointed out to me is that someone in authority, if they’re allowed to put people down, people can take that home feeling like they’re an authority in their home and start putting people down in their own home,” she added.

Shaynna also revealed she had received an apology from Channel 9 and an email apology from Lord Sugar.

Martha’s awkward exit and The Veronicas’ repeated complaints

Controversial former contestant Martha Kalifatidis made a reappearance tonight to support her former teammate Shaynna.
In the season’s penultimate episode, the former MAFS star was “fired” after a regrettable outburst in which she seemed to momentarily forget the main purpose of the show is to raise money for charity.

While pleading to be sent through to the finale, Martha said: “This will change my life. This opportunity, for me, will literally open so many doors. I will prove, not only to you guys, but to so many people, that I am competent. I’m not just an influencer, I’m not just a beauty blogger, I’m not just a make-up artist. It will give me so many opportunities.”

“It’s also about charity,” board member Janine Allis reminded Martha. “The ‘change of life’ is actually the money that will go to the charity.”

Speaking on-air with Fitzy and Wippa on Tuesday, Martha admitted her boardroom speech “looked really bad” and said she didn’t want to make excuses for it.

“It was entertaining, it was funny … everyone who was on the show with me, my friends, my family, they know what I’m like. The show’s entertaining, I won so much money for charity, what more can I ask for?” she said.

She also said she wished the show had featured scenes where she wasn’t “being a total bitch,” calling the edit “upsetting.”

“It would’ve been nice if they’d shown another side to me, but it is what it is,” she said.

Her comments come after pop duo The Veronicas repeatedly complained about the show’s “edit” which they said focused on drama rather than the heartfelt moments.

Last month, the sisters claimed they only signed on to the show after being promised the show would have “heart,” given it would mean time away from caring for their ill mother.

“We came on the show to raise money for charity and awareness for The Brain foundation. We didn’t need to do this show for exposure. We signed on after they stressed & emphasised it would be a show with heart; given we had to take physical time away from our mama to do it,” they wrote.

The critique came a day after they publicly tweeted at the show’s official Twitter account, saying it gave the contestants “scripted drama” and used selective editing to make them look bad.

The musical siblings are no strangers to a social media spat, having famously feuded online with the airline QANTAS, Jess’ ex-partner Ruby Rose, and each other.
