Members of the royal family have wished Meghan Markle happy birthday in sweet tributes amid a public stoush over the latest royal biography.
The Queen, Prince Charles and Camilla and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge posted messages to Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, who turned 39 on August 4.
It comes as the royal family is involved in a public war over the contents of a new book about the Sussexes, Finding Freedom, which claims to unveil the inside story of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepping back from royal life.
The tumultuous time has not gone unnoticed by members of the public who posted sassy comments about the birthday wishes, branding Meghan the “Duchess of Litigation”.
The senior royals also swiftly followed up the birthday posts with a tribute to the British Red Cross that marks its 150th anniversary today.

Prince Harry and Meghan famously quit their royal duties in January in favour of a move to Canada, which later turned into a new life in Los Angeles, where they have been holed up in a multimillion-dollar mansion with baby son Archie amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Finding Freedom is set for release on August 11 with extracts published so far revealing the inside story of how the couple first met, began dating and the treatment they received from other members of the royal family, palace aides dubbed “vipers” and the British tabloid press.
It also contains details about Prince Harry’s private Instagram account and when the couple’s relationship with the Queen turned sour.
Journalists Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand wrote of how Harry and Meghan instantly fell for one another and Harry took umbrage and Prince William’s suggestion he took time to get to know “this girl.”
It also claims the Duchess of Cambridge did not do enough to help ease Meghan’s entry into the royal family.
Prince Harry and Meghan have denied giving interviews or collaborating with the authors, however the well-placed sources and lack of legal action against the publishers has raised speculation about their level of co-operation among media commentators.
Finding Freedom will be available in Australia on August 12.
