Kanye West has been suspended from Instagram after infringing the platform's policy regarding harassment, a spokesperson for its parent firm Meta said.
Key points:
- Kanye West has been embroiled in a bitter falling out with ex-wife Kim Kardashian
- Instagram's parent company Meta did not disclose what post violated its policy
- The account is suspended for 24 hours
Instagram deleted content sent from the 44-year-old rapper's account that was in violation of its policies on "hate speech and bullying and harassment," spokesperson Joe Osborne told Reuters in an emailed statement.
West, who legally goes by the name "Ye", would be restricted from posting, commenting or sending direct messages from the account for 24 hours, Osborne said.
He said further action could be taken if West continued to violate policies.
Meta declined to provide details of the posts that violated its policy.
Instagram's community guidelines say it reserves the right to remove content that contains "credible threats or hate speech, content that targets private individuals to degrade or shame them, personal information meant to blackmail or harass someone and repeated unwanted messages".
Representatives for West did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comment.
West attacks Trevor Noah
A report in entertainment industry publication Variety said West directed racial slurs at Daily Show host Trevor Noah in an Instagram post after Noah discussed a row between West, West's former wife Kim Kardashian and her boyfriend, Saturday Night Live comic Pete Davidson.
"What we're seeing makes you uncomfortable," Noah said on The Daily Show.
"What I see from this situation, I'll be honest, I see a woman who wants to live her life without being harassed by an ex-boyfriend or an ex-husband or an ex-anything."
"You know people always say that phrase to women, 'Why didn't you leave?' ... because a lot of women realise when they do leave, the guy will get even crazier."
Noah continued: "The point is that Kim Kardashian and countless other women find themselves in a terrible position, because asking Kanye to stop clearly isn't helping but at the same time, he hasn't broken any laws."
He contrasted Kardashian's wealth and influence with her inability to get West to stop.
"She is being harassed," he said.

West attacks DL Hughley, SNL writer Dave Sirius
Posts of West criticising actor DL Hughley and Saturday Night Live writer Dave Sirius can still be seen on his profile.
Kardashian, a businesswoman and star of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, filed for divorce a year ago, citing irreconcilable differences with West. The couple have four children ranging in age from two to eight years old.
After the divorce, West criticised the reality star's new relationship with Davidson on social media and publicly appealed to her to return to him.
This month a Los Angeles judge granted Kardashian's request to be declared legally single following nearly eight years of marriage to the rapper.
