Chrissie Swan and Georgie Tunny set to replace Carrie Bickmore on The Project - PerthNow

Just days after The Project host Carrie Bickmore announced her break from the show, two replacements have been announced.

Chrissie Swan and Georgie Tunny are set to step into Bickmore’s role on alternating nights alongside the shows regular hosts Waleed Aly and Peter Helliar.

Both Swan and Tunny have appeared as guests on The Project in previous years with The Project executive producer Chris Bendall saying he is “delighted to see them both take larger hosting roles”.

“We have a lot of exciting plans for the show this year. Carrie’s seat is in safe hands until she returns mid-year with Chrissie and Georgie joining Lisa (Wilkinson) who will continue to deliver outstanding feature stories from around the country alongside her existing hosting duties,” Bendall said.

Bickmore stunned viewers on Tuesday night when she announced that she and her family will be leaving the country in a few weeks and heading to the UK.

After 13 years with The Project, Bickmore explained she would be absent from TV screens for several months, but would still co-host the Hit network’s Carrie and Tommy Show each afternoon alongside Tommy Little.

The mother-of-two elaborated that Melbourne’s tough lockdowns over the past two years inspired her family to go on more adventures together.

It was also revealed the 41-year-old quietly sold her family home in Melbourne which some are saying could be a subtle hint about how long her hiatus will be.
