SAS star spills on cheating scandal - NEWS.com.au

Chief Instructor Ant Middleton has revealed that one of the celebrities on SAS Australia cheated and refused to own up to it.

SAS Australia star Ant Middleton has confirmed the upcoming season features a cheating scandal.

The second season of the brutal reality show kicks off tonight on Channel 7 with 18 celebrities set to face a series of physical and psychological tests from the real SAS selection process.

But not all of the recruits played by the rules, Chief Instructor Ant Middleton told news.com.au.

Ant, we’ve heard there’s a cheating scandal. What can you tell us about it?

We’re watching every single move. I watch them like a hawk when they don’t even realise it. We asked them to do a certain activity and there is some cheating and it definitely doesn’t go unnoticed. We won’t make you suffer (if we catch you cheating) – we’ll make the others suffer and hopefully they’ll be the one that will slowly get a grip of you and tell you to buck up or quit the course.

Is it true that the cheater refuses to admit that he/she cheated?

You’ve got a pretty good source.

In the first episode you give a female recruit one of the biggest sprays ever witnessed on Aussie TV. You go off at her. Are you worried about how that will come across on screens?

I give everyone a dressing down, whether it’s a female recruit or Sam Burgess or Heath Shaw. If they’ve messed up, they’re going to get a dressing down. This isn’t a game, it’s not a joke. It’s serious for us. We’ve been there and done it and sacrificed for our country and for each other and that’s the headspace that I get into. The dressings downs are a way of letting people know that this cannot happen again.

There’s no gender in my eyes. If you mess up you’re going to know about it and I’m going to tell you the truth and hopefully you’ll learn from that and better yourself as the course goes on.

There’s a rumour that one of the celebs has to pull out of the competition after copping a gruesome injury during one the challenges. Is that true?

That’s the nature of the course. We expect injuries every course. We try to limit that damage and we try to keep it as safe as possible but when we’re pushing you to your extremes, injuries are part and parcel.

It’s already been reported that you subjected the celebrities to tear gas this year. Is it safe to say this season is way more full-on than the last?
Yeah we definitely upped the ante this year because we want to keep them guessing.
