Just as things appear to have settled on The Block, tempers flare after ‘cheaters’ Tanya and Vito are caught allegedly bending the rules again.
Just when tensions appeared to have eased on site, The Block has descended into chaos again this week with more cheating accusations hurled between teams.
Weeks after Tanya and Vito confessed to being behind the leaked production schedule saga, resulting in an ugly stoush between teams, a teaser for Sunday night’s episode sees the couple slammed again for alleged rule breaking.
It all began on Tuesday night when the teams were tasked with creating a piece from shipwrecked items for their upcoming bedrooms.
Tanya and Vito produced a “fidget planter”, made from a crate and an old ship steering unit, which was mocked by fellow contestants and savaged by judges.
Not only that, once they got it in the room, they realised it was far too big for the space.
Scratching their heads over what to do with the unusual piece they’d made, Shelley Craft gave them a solution during her and Scotty’s walk through — permitting them to “tweak” the planter.
“Now that you’ve been judged, you can alter it to suit the room a little bit more,” said Shelley, suggesting they use it as a bookshelf.
“You guys need to win this week, you need ten grand more than anyone on the block … We’re going for the win and the fidget planter is not going to win. It is not your secret weapon,” she warned.
Speaking to The Block producers, the couple were thrilled to have the go-ahead.
“We didn’t ask permission, she (Shelley) just said if ‘I were you I would cut this part off and put it in the bin,’ she said tweak it to suit your room,” Tanya said excitedly.
But the remaining contestants weren’t impressed when they learned of the duo’s plans, with a teaser aired at the end of Wednesday’s episode showing a tense meeting where tempers erupt.
“When is a tweak a tweak and when does a tweak become a transformation?” Mitch and Mark ask.
“I think that you can see that yours is an eyesore and so you want to change it,” Kirsty says.
Explaining that Scotty and Shelley had permitted the change, the meeting ends with a yelling match between Georgia and Ronnie and Tanya, with Tanya appearing to storm off in fury.
“You’re not the friggen boss dude,” Tanya is seen yelling as she walks away.
Meanwhile, twins Luke and Josh slam the other couples for dragging them into the meeting.
“I don’t care what you do with it, this meeting is wasting my time I’ve got important sh*t to deal with,” Josh is seen saying.
It comes after Vito and Tanya and Luke and Josh were each docked two points for using a photo of the top-secret production schedule to plan ahead in the early weeks of the season. According to Tanya, the image came from a mysterious unknown number.
The full extent of the new drama is set to play out on Sunday night before the room reveals.
