SAS Australia 2021: Mark Philippoussis dislocates Pete Murray’s elbow in fight, forcing him to withdraw - PerthNow

Singer Pete Murray has been sensationally forced to withdraw from SAS Australia after tennis star Mark Philippoussis dislocated his elbow during a ferocious “fight club” challenge.

The two recruits were paired with each another for a multiple round “hand-to-hand combat” exercise, which saw them don boxing gloves and protective headwear.

The singer was forced to bow out of the match after dislocating his elbow thanks to a blow from the Aussie tennis ace.

Philippoussis was shown earlier in the episode getting a pep talk from the directing staff during an interrogation, where he was encouraged to channel his inner “aggression.”

“This is where we call on that ‘F--k You’ isn’t it, Number 11?” Middleton tells him just prior to stepping into the fight circle.

It’s doubtful they expected the outcome to be this extreme.

Murray, who is 51, is the oldest competitor in the rigorous reality series and was reminded how well he had performed by Middleton, who told him upon his exit: “you are strong as an ox. Unfortunately you have gone out there and done this to your arm.”

Although Murray says he has no regrets about taking part in the series.

“I can walk away from this knowing that I have done the best I can. I have pushed myself as far as I can and as hard as I can and I’ve got nothing left on the table. I've got to be happy,” he told DS (directing staff) Ant Middleton in the episode.

Murray, who became famous with hits like “Feeler” and “Better Days” wants viewers to know that age should be no barrier to achievement.

“I think most people over 50 wouldn’t want to do this. But age is no barrier. You can do anything you want. Don’t be scared of your age — just get out there and have a go.”
