How Meghan could become a princess if she loses her title - NEWS.com.au

Lady Colin Campbell made history in 1992 when the Jamaican-born socialite published Diana in Private: The Princess Nobody Knows, the first biography to air claims the princess had suffered from an eating disorder and cheated with her riding instructor James Hewitt.

The title caused a sensation and while many initially wrote off what initially seemed like a lurid contrived tale, her narrative was soon backed up by the publication of Andrew Morton’s explosive Diana: Her True Story.

Since then, Lady Colin has bobbed about the royal commentating world and in recent years has popped up on breakfast TV to offer up regular doses of headline-grabbing Sussex-related sound bites.

RELATED: Prince William worries Harry may go ‘too far’

Lady Colin has now taken things one step further, launching an online petition calling on Prince Harry to “voluntarily ask The Queen to put his royal style, titles and rank into abeyance”. At the time of publication it has more than 39,000 signatures.

Given all the recent revelations from the royal couple about suicidal thoughts, shocking racism, negligent parenting and royal bullying, Lady Colin’s politicking isn’t particularly incendiary.

However, we need to talk about Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their troublesome titles. Because, as bizarre as this might sound, it might actually be to their benefit should the Queen intercede at some stage and exert polite pressure on the Californian couple to stops using their ducal titles.

Bear with me here.

On the morning of the couple’s wedding day in 2018, Buckingham Palace announced the Queen would be conferring a Dukedom (along with the titles Earl of Dumbarton and Baron Kilkeel) on her grandson and by extension on her new granddaughter-in-law, as is standard. (Prince Andrew was made the Duke of York on his big day in 1986, while Prince William was made the Duke of Cambridge on his in 2011.)

It was not long before storm clouds gathered over their particular honorifics and in late 2019, nearly 4,000 locals signed a petition forcing the Brighton & Hove Council in the actual county of Sussex to debate whether the duo’s titles should be removed. (The stunt clearly failed.)

RELATED: Prince Harry’s TV gamble backfires

Still, these calls only grew in the wake of the upheaval of Megxit. Harry and Meghan, so this line of thinking goes, have flown the royal coop to make their name and fortune in the US and their continued use of the Sussex appellation endangers the royal family by introducing the tawdry whiff of commerce into the royal milieu.

Basically, moolah and monarchy are not meant to gratuitously mix and, ostensibly, even the merest hint that anyone might dare monetise their royal status is theoretically met with abject horror.

(Let us all politely ignore the myriad other intersections of cold hard cash and the crown, such as Prince Charles’ Duchy of Cornwall peddling more than 300 products via the Waitrose supermarket chain, that the royal palaces all contain slightly gauche gift shops stocked with replica royal jewellery, and that you can pay to tour the Queen’s vast privately-owned Norfolk pile Sandringham and the gardens of her Scottish estate Balmoral.)

While theirs was not a particularly successful stint as working HRHs, at least in terms of job satisfaction, Harry and Meghan have made serious business inroads in the business world in the States.

In less than a year, they inked an estimated $180 million worth of deals with Netflix and Spotify alone, signed on with A-list speakers bureau Harry Walker Agency, the duchess has written a book, and the duke has done the previously unthinkable and gone and gotten a job as Chief Impact Officer at a billion-dollar Silicon Valley start-up.

RELATED: How Prince Philip amassed a huge fortune

With each successive commercial business announcement, the vexing question over titles has continued to bubble away, a situation that was only magnified in the wake of their March TV interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Fast forward to another lengthy interview for the podcast Armchair Expert and then more revelations in the five-part Apple TV series The Me You Can’t See, and the question becomes only more pressing: How could they in good conscience keep using their Sussex titles when they had no compunction about assailing the royal house whenever a camera was pointed in their direction?

Underpinning all of this is the notion that if Harry and Meghan had to front up to some glitzy Hollywood event or the annual Sun Valley talk-fest as plain old Mr and Mrs Mountbatten-Windsor, it would diminish their money-making potential and tarnish their celebrity lustre.

RELATED: Prince Harry doubles down on criticism of Prince Charles

But I wonder, have we been thinking about this the wrong way?

Could Her Majesty wielding her dwindling influence over the wayward couple and getting them to give up their Sussex titles actually backfire and prove to be a boon for Montecito’s most controversial rate payers?

For one thing, it would make the 95-year-old monarch look quite petty and vindictive. For those squarely in the pro-Harry and Meghan camp, this sort of move would confirm their view that the Queen is a mean-spirited nonagenarian out to punish the only bi-racial member of her extended family.

The Sussexes, in turn, could bask in a sort of PR martyrdom that would strengthen their anti-Establishment, ‘speaking truth to power’ brand.

This would also make Her Majesty look like a hypocrite too given that Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York is still allowed to wield her royal title with money-spinning abandon.

RELATED: Queen’s ‘sadness’ over Sussexes’ decision

Beyond all of this, even if Harry and Meghan were no longer in a position to use their Sussex titles, they still have his princely status to fall back on. He will always be Prince Henry of Wales officially and she, as his wife, has every right to style herself Princess Henry of Wales, a la the Queen’s cousin Prince Michael of Kent and his wife Princess Michael of Kent.

Therefore, should Harry and Meghan find themselves sans their gifted titles then, no biggie, they can simply go down the Wales route. Not only would they be able to enjoy something of the moral high ground, forced to suffer the slings and arrows of a vengeful palace, but Meghan would be entitled to style herself as a princess, an even more elevated title than duchess.

In short, this whole situation is something of a win/win for the renegade couple.

Strategically, the palace is stuck in a bind and only has what looks like losing hands to play. They can leave the couple and their titles untouched, or they can push them to kowtow to their whims and only strengthen the couple’s US cause.

Still, if DDD Day does come – Harry and Megan being denuded of their ducal designation – then have no fear. Surely Oprah would be on hand in a trice to help them share their authentic pain with viewers and Fergie could lend them a copy of her 2001 offering, Reinventing Yourself with the Duchess of York even though this would be one indignity that even she has not suffered.

Ouch. Now that particular injustice would surely have to hurt.

Why Kate Winslet refused to have her sex scene edited in Mare of Easttown - NEWS.com.au

Mare of Easttown has been praised for its grit and realism throughout and a large part of that is down to Kate Winslet’s character.

In a New York Times interview which dropped just hours after the series finale aired, Kate Winslet spoke about her portrayal of Detective Mare Sheehan.

The actor insisted the director Craig Zobel keep her character realistic and pushed back if that wasn’t the case. When Zobel assured her he would cut out “a bulgy bit of belly” in her sex scene with Guy Pearce, Winslet objected, saying “Don’t you dare!”

The 45-year-old actor explained, “I hope that in playing Mare as a middle-aged woman – I will be 46 in October – I guess that’s why people have connected with this character in the way they have done because there are clearly no filters.

“She’s a fully functioning flawed woman with a body and a face that moves in a way that is synonymous with her age and her life and where she comes from. I think we’re starved of that a bit.”

The Oscar winner also recalled sending back a retouched promo poster, telling the outlet she knows “how many lines I have by the side of my eye” and asked the designers to put them back in.

Winslet told the publication that people watching may say, “Oh my God, how can she let herself look go unglamorous”, but she to reflect her character’s burdens.

Don’t expect to see Winslet appear in nude scene any time soon, she also noted that she’s ready to put those days behind her.

“I think my days are getting a little bit numbered of doing nudity,” she said. “I’m just not comfortable doing it anywhere. It’s not even really an age thing, actually. There comes a point where people are going to go, “Oh, here she goes again.”

Demi Lovato gets candid about coming out as non-binary - NEWS.com.au

Demi Lovato has said the “patriarchy” held them back from coming out as non-binary.

Earlier this month, the singer shared the news that they were non-binary on their social media and had officially changed their pronouns to they/them.

Now, the former Disney star spoke to actress and activist Jane Fonda about their journey to becoming non-binary.

During Fonda’s podcast, Lovato spoke about their upbringing “growing up in Dallas, Texas, in the South, being Christian, there was a lot of norms that were already pushed onto me when it came to sexuality and gender.

“If I looked back at my life, there have been times where I felt more masculine, and then there has been times where I felt more feminine.”

Lovato also spoke candidly to Fonda about how the patriarchy had affected them.

“If I had listened to the patriarchy, my life would’ve never changed, my gender, my pronouns would have never changed,” they said. “I would have probably been married to a man, with kids, doing the thing that I was raised to believe that I should do.”

They continued to speak about candidly about their past struggles.

“I’ve been attracted to everyone for as long as I can remember. So there’s been moments in my life that have been very confusing, being 10 years old and being attracted to women and not knowing what that meant as a Christian being raised in the south”.

The singer also shared their experiences of working in the entertainment industry, explaining that they had spent years trying to make themselves “smaller for the patriarchy”, which they said runs the industry and had been holding them back.

“It was putting me in a box, telling me that, ‘You are a female, this is what you’re supposed to like, this is what you’re supposed to do, don’t dream bigger and don’t speak louder.’ That didn’t vibe for me because I’m too outspoken for that.”

RELATED: Demi Lovato’s survivor’s guilt

Addressing how their near-death experience in 2018 after a drug overdose affected them, they said, “I had to wake up and start living my life for me, no matter what choices men thought I should make for myself I just started listening to me which I found out was equal parts masculine and feminine.”

Lovato continued to describe stripping themself “of the norms that society has pushed” and that they have “never been happier”.

The 28-year-old star – who rose to fame on Disney series Barney and Friends, Sonny with a Chance, and the Camp Rock films, told their 106 million followers on Instagram earlier this month, “Today is a day I’m so happy to share more of my life with you all – I am proud to let you know that I identify as non-binary and will officially be changing my pronouns to they/them moving forward.”

Rebel Wilson poses in plunging black one-piece during a beach day in Florida - NEWS.com.au

Rebel Wilson is making the most of her US summer.

The jetsetting star has had an eventful few days, and she’s been documenting it all on her Instagram to the delight of fans.

After travelling to Florida in a private jet to present the trophy at a polo event, Wilson hit the beach in a chic, sunsmart look.

Posing on the sand in a black plunging one piece with statement zip, wide-brimmed blue hat, Givenchy slides and sunglasses, the Pitch Perfect actress looked stunning, having recently dropped close to 30 kgs.

“Palm Beach-ing. I think I wanna move to Florida now,” Wilson, 41, captioned the photo.

Praising the look in the comments, one fan wrote: “Move over Pam Anderson, we got a new Baywatch babe! Yaassss gurl!”

“You look incredible,” said another.

Yesterday, Wilson was living it up in a private jet, sharing a series of glamorous snaps in an Yves Saint Laurent bodysuit and cat eye sunglasses.

The Pooch Perfect host, who split from her businessman boyfriend Jacob Busch in February, has wowed fans with her weight loss journey following her “year of health” in 2020.

Since then, she’s been happily sharing the results of the lifestyle overhaul in designer outfits and activewear.

Appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show last November, Wilson revealed the sad reason why she was overweight for so many years.

“I was going all around the world, jetsetting everywhere and eating a tonne of sugar,” Wilson said.

“I think what I mainly suffered from was emotional eating and dealing with the stress of becoming famous internationally – there is a lot of stressful stuff that comes with it – and I guess my way of dealing with it was eating doughnuts.

“So I was working on the mental side of things and thinking why was I doing that? And why wasn’t I valuing myself and having better self-worth?”

This week, she said she felt “sad” that she hadn’t embarked on a lifestyle change earlier in life.

Speaking to InStyle, she said: “Now that I know I can do it, sometimes I feel sad that I didn’t do it earlier.

“Maybe I should have tried when I was 30, not 40. But everybody’s journey is different, and it’s not a race or competition.”

She went on to encourage her fans to make positive changes to their lifestyle regardless of how old they are.

“I have a natural empathy for anyone who struggles with weight issues because that’s something I’ve always struggled with,” she added.

“Anyone can go on walks and drink more water and do little, consistent things that’ll improve their lives. It’s not too late to start, no matter what age you are.”

2GB’s Ben Fordham dives in radio ratings - The Sydney Morning Herald

2GB host Ben Fordham has continued to dive in the radio ratings, falling to his worst result since taking over the station’s breakfast slot 12 months ago.

The breakfast host saw his audience share drop to 13.5 per cent (down 2.0 per cent) in Tuesday’s third radio survey of the year, his first consecutive loss following his 2.6 per cent drop last survey.

The 2GB host still maintains his lead in Sydney’s competitive breakfast market but the margin against ABC Sydney’s Wendy Harmer and Robbie Buck has inched closer, with just 0.4 percentage points now separating the two. Harmer and Buck’s audience share is at 13.1 per cent (down 0.1 per cent).

Tuesday’s ratings marked Fordham’s one-year anniversary as host of 2GB’s 5.30am-9am breakfast slot, after taking over from Alan Jones. Jones left the station in June 2020 with a 17.9 per cent audience share in the timeslot.

“Today’s ratings are a reminder of just how competitive the breakfast shift is,” Fordham says.

“We’re 12 months in after replacing the most successful broadcaster in Australian history and we’re still in that number one spot.

“There’s some tough competition out there and I’ve just got to do my best to stay in front of them all.”

2GB, which is owned by Nine which also owns this masthead, again suffered drops across its programming, but maintained its status as Sydney’s top radio station with an overall audience share of 11.7 per cent (down 1.7), over SmoothFM 95.3 (10.8 per cent; up 1.5) and ABC Sydney (10.1 per cent; down 1.7).

SmoothFM 95.3’s strong showing in Tuesday’s survey saw it claim wins in the afternoon (12pm-4pm) and drive (4pm-7pm) slots, which largely take in Simon Diaz’s 1pm-5pm show and Byron Webb’s 5pm-9pm show.

The station recorded increased audience shares of 12.8 per cent (up 2.8 per cent) and 11.1 per cent (up 1.3 per cent) to finish top in the respective timeslots.

It was also a significant survey for Triple J, which saw its overall audience share rise to 7.1 per cent (up 1.6 per cent, the survey’s biggest jump).

The youth broadcaster’s impressive result was driven by audience increases in Lucy Smith’s 9am-12pm morning slot (8.3 per cent; up 2.3) and in the 12pm-4pm afternoon slot (9.0 per cent; up 3.1), which largely takes in Dave Woodhead’s 12pm-3pm lunch show.

Tuesday’s survey covered the ratings periods from February 28 to April 3 and April 18 to May 22.

Mare of Easttown finale recap: Erin’s killer finally revealed - NEWS.com.au

The Mare of Easttown finale has officially dropped and it’s safe to say we didn’t see the killer coming.

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Mare of Easttown, episode 7. Don’t read on if you don’t want to know what happens in the finale.

The previous episode finished with a cliffhanger, leading viewers to believe Billy Ross killed Erin McMenamin and was the real father of her young son DJ, with detective Mare Sheehan (Kate Winslet) en route to confront him.

But in the opening minutes of the finale, we learn it’s actually Billy’s married brother, John Ross, who had an affair with young Erin and fathered her baby.

Erin’s best friend Jess shows the police a photo she found of John and Erin in bed together, which then leads police to suspect John is also the murderer, killing Erin to keep their relationship a secret.

John confesses to Mare, who is a long-term friend of his wife Lori, that he did kill Erin when she threatened to out their affair if he didn’t pay for baby DJ’s ear surgery.

The confession comes surprisingly early in the finale - Case closed already? Not quite.

It turns out John was trying to protect his young son, Ryan Ross, who is Erin’s real killer. Mare pieces together the truth when she discovers the weapon used to kill Erin on a routine check of another Easttown resident’s home - and learns that Ryan mows the resident’s lawns, meaning he had access to the weapon.

Mare visits Ryan at school to talk to him - and he instantly sprints, confirming her suspicions. Running home with the police in close pursuit, he tells his mother Lori he’s been found out - thereby confirming that Lori knew her son was the killer. But for how long?

Ryan tells Mare he only meant to threaten Erin with the gun so she would stay away from his dad, after John had previously had an affair which almost tore the Ross family apart. But after Erin tried to wrestle the gun off Ryan, it discharged, blowing her finger off. Panicked, he shot her again, this time fatally.

RELATED: Shocking moment viewers thought Mare of Easttown went too far

Ryan’s father and uncle then get involved in the cover-up trying to protect Ryan, moving the body and creating alibis. Lori joins the lie later, telling Mare false information in a bid to protect her son.

While there have been many suspects in Erin’s murder throughout the show’s seven episode run, there was always a lingering question mark over the Ross family.

Hints of a family secret with the Ross’ were peppered in earlier episodes, though at the time we were led to believe it was about John reprising his affair with another woman in town.

Eagle-eyed fans will notice there were a few flashes of Ryan’s overly mortified face in an earlier episode when watching the news about Erin on the TV.

Ultimately Ryan is placed in a juvenile detention centre, while John faces murder accessory charges.

In a pleasant surprise, it turns out Guy Pearce’s somewhat mysterious character Richard really was just an innocent love interest all along (we know what you were thinking).

He and Mare share a sweet farewell before he has to leave town for work, leaving the door open for them to reunite down the track.

As for Mare, it looks like she’s finally ready to move forward and face the fears she’s been burying.

First, there’s an emotional reunion with Lori, who had initially blamed her for cracking the case and having both her son and husband arrested. Months later, Lori’s finally ready to forgive Mare, collapsing in her arms.

In an incredibly moving final scene, Mare finally sets foot in the attic where her son killed himself for the first time since his death. The message is clear: She’s ready to grieve properly and move on with her life.

Friends reunion director hits back at ‘unkind’ Matthew Perry claims - NEWS.com.au

The Friends reunion director Ben Winston has blasted Matthew Perry critics as “unkind” following speculation over his health during the special.

The 51-year-old US-Canadian actor sparked concerns among viewers after his seemingly slurred speech and reserved demeanour during the highly-anticipated reunion episode, which is streaming on Binge.

But Winston has since addressed the overwhelming reaction surrounding Perry.

“He was great,” Winston told The Hollywood Reporter.

“People can sometimes just be unkind. I wish they weren’t. I loved working with him.”

The director went on to praise Perry, calling him a “brilliantly funny man” who had great one-liners during the show.

“I felt just happy and lucky to be in his presence and directing him on something like this,” Winston said.

Friends executive producer Kevin Bright also responded to questions about Perry — who has been open about his longtime struggle with addiction.

“I don’t have any(thing) to say about that, except it was great to see him,” Bright shared. “And I think he’s very funny on the show. But yes, I think he’s OK.”

According to a report, Perry’s speech was impaired due to recent dental work.

“Matthew turned up to the reunion (in April) and members of his team said that he had an emergency tooth procedure that day,” a source told The Sun, adding, “Obviously no one wants to film after a procedure, but it happened.”

The source insisted that Perry is sober and there was no need for fans to worry.

Perry — who was in and out of rehab from 1997 to 2001 — previously revealed that he doesn’t remember filming multiple seasons of the hit TV show, in which he played Chandler Bing.

Big Brother’s romance is ripped apart, and ‘hell week’ begins - NEWS.com.au

Rumour has it Christina had a “secret boyfriend” outside the Big Brother mansion during filming, making her perhaps the sneakiest game player of them all and thus my new favourite.

Let’s be real: her relationship with fellow housemate Brenton probably wasn’t going to make it in the outside world anyway given all they have in common is being ridiculously good looking, but I’m a sucker for the drama via the So Dramatic! podcast.

Tonight’s episode of Big Brother marked the beginning of “hell week”, which with this year’s bundle of housemates, could have taken a number of cruel iterations.

They could have all been forced to try Tilly’s botched Tik Tok beauty treatment, or read Danny’s real estate memoir while listening to his disturbingly loud chewing all week.

But no, hell week is just more complicated, gruelling physical tasks.

RELATED: Horrifying find results in TV meltdown

We open to SJ – who spends a lot of time talking about being vegan – waking up in the early hours of the morning to pilfer chocolate chips from a hiding spot in the cupboard. That crafty minx.

She eats them with a handful of nuts while lying on the floor in what looks like quite possibly the most uncomfortable midnight snacking position in the history of late-night binge eating. Surely this is a lying-down-on-the-couch resting food on your bulging stomach to catch the crumbs situation?

RELATED: Reality star’s raunchy eviction plea

SJ is so content with her alone time, she cries tears of joy to Big Brother, saying she’s had “the most special of times” on the floor eating forbidden chocolate chips.

This show is slowly but surely sending them all insane.

SJ creeps back to bed, stashing her sugary loot in a pot plant.

The housemates are woken early to bundles of army gear and sacks of potatoes, which they’re told they’ll be carrying around the entire day for a dinner reward of steak and chips.

Ari – still bleary eyed from the early wake up call – remarks that he’d “love a steak, especially if we can have wholegrain seed mustard seeds.”

They put on the army duds and everyone begins gushing about how good Brenton looks in the outfit. Being hot, in a “power couple” and a physical threat is a sure fire way to be evicted in this game, so he instantly becomes unsafe.

The housemates march around with the potatoes, in and out of the pool and while being forced to do squats. There’s a lot of complaining for a group of people who spend the vast majority of their spare time exercising anyway.

After a while, Danny is called to the diary room where he’s given a new sack filled with much lighter balls. He’s ordered to spend the day pretending his ballsack is uncomfortably heavy to successfully fool the others.

He lays it on thick, developing a limp, grunting and moaning with agony with each step as he exaggerates carrying his ballsack around the house.

The housemates start to tease him about how much he appears to be struggling, with Christina throwing quite possibly the most vicious veiled swipe I’ve ever heard.

“Is this kinda what you had to do in the military Danny?” she asks as he hoists his sack up with apparent agony.

Savage.

They complete the steak and chips challenge, but because it’s hell week, they’re given wooden stakes and are told to make chips out of their sweaty potatoes. (We see what you did there).

Danny – who did absolutely nothing but carry around a light bag of balls – is rewarded with an actual steak dinner, which he enjoys with Adriana while talking with his mouth open and chewing like a camel.

It really is starting to feel like hell week.

The housemates are exhausted, but before they can even shut their eyes, Big Brother pulls them out of bed for a 2am nomination challenge.

Divided into teams, they compete in an obstacle course, which Katie’s team wins.

They nominate Brenton, SJ and Christina for eviction, with the scramble leaving it between SJ and Brenton for elimination.

They enter the eviction zone/virtual laser tag arena where Sonia awaits them in a purple robe.

SJ turns on the waterworks. It’s been an emotional day.

She pleads with the housemates to let her stay and make history as the oldest woman to make it to a Big Brother final, describing the opportunity as “rad” – just to drive the point home that she really is 66.

They’re all moved by her speech and passion – which only we know is really about the fact that she hasn’t finished the chocolate chips in the pot plant.

The votes are tallied; Christina gets one, SJ gets 3 and Brenton gets 8.

He and Christina hug goodbye and he tells the camera he’s “looking forward to catching her on the outside”.

Back in the house, Christina shrugs as the others gather to comfort her, looking totally unfazed by Brenton’s departure.

If that isn’t proof of the secret boyfriend I don’t know what is.

The Crown will feature storyline about how Martin Bashir secured Diana interview - NEWS.com.au

The next season of The Crown will feature episodes about BBC journalist Martin Bashir’s “grooming” of Diana, Princess of Wales, reports claim.

The acclaimed television show will document the “deceitful” way Bashir secured the now infamous 1995 Panorama interview.

The UK’s Daily Telegraph claimed the fifth season of the award-winning show will feature Bashir and how the Princess was drawn into taking part in the interview, despite Prince William’s recent calls for the Panorama interview to “never be aired again”.

The newspaper suggests the show’s writer Peter Morgan is working alongside a team of researchers with hope to recreate the interview.

According to sources, the scripts have “all been written” and “are already out there”.

They added, “This was a year ago. The team were doing the most incredible research and they’ve got it all there – the build – up to the interview, how Bashir effectively groomed the Princess, the interview itself and the aftermath are all factored in over more than one episode.”

The news comes after a publication of a report which criticised the methods Bashir used to secure the bombshell interview including the use of fake bank statements.

The report found Bashir used “deceitful conduct” to obtain the 1995 interview with the Princess, which was then covered up by a “woefully ineffective” internal investigation in 1996.

Following the report, Princes William and Harry both released statements. The Duke of Cambridge said he was “most saddened” Diana never learned she had been deceived and that his mother was failed “not just by a rogue reporter”, but by BBC bosses.

The Duke also called for the interview to be removed, “It is my firm view that this Panorama program holds no legitimacy and should never be aired again.”

Prince Harry blamed a toxic media culture for his mother’s death, expressing concern such practices “are still widespread today”. He added, “Our mother lost her life because of this, and nothing has changed. By protecting her legacy, we protect everyone, and uphold the dignity with which she lived her life.”

It’s been confirmed that series five will see a whole new cast of characters including Imelda Staunton (the Queen), Jonathan Pryce (Prince Philip), and Elizabeth Debicki (Diana). Prince Charles’ casting is yet to be announced. The fifth season will cover the intense interest in Charles and Diana throughout the ’90s.

The sixth series will be the final series, drawing The Crown to a conclusion when it’s released in 2023.

Prince William worries Harry may go ‘too far’ with his truth bombs - NEWS.com.au

Prince William is “concerned” that Harry “may go too far with his truth bombs”, a source claims.

The Duke of Cambridge is said to be worried his younger brother could further damage his relationships with the royal family.

And a pal told the Mail on Sunday William is both disappointed and “greatly concerned” by Harry’s latest broadside in yet another Oprah production.

Charles came in for particular criticism in Harry’s latest documentary, The Me You Can’t See.

In the program, Harry accused the royals of showing “total neglect” for his mental health woes.

And he claimed Charles caused him to “suffer” and didn’t “make it right” for him after his mother’s death in 1997.

He also spoke about Meghan’s battles with mental health – and said she would sob into her pillow after ‘smears’ from The Firm.

And he said he was faced with an “element of shame” when he opened up about his struggles.

“As parents, as siblings, certainly from what I’ve learned, there’s an element of shame we feel because we’re like, ‘How could we not have seen it?’,” he said.

“But we all know when people are suffering and people are struggling that we’re all incredibly good at covering it up.”

The source said Harry’s loved ones have “concerns” about what he might say in future interviews.

It’s reported the Queen gave her blessing for Harry’s involvement in the doco because she was told it would cover soldiers’ mental health.

But she and Charles were left “absolutely gobsmacked” when they were informed of Harry’s latest “personal attacks” in the show.

And the Duke’s relationship with his family in the UK is now “hanging by a thread”, a source says.

Meanwhile, it emerged this week that cops had to visit Harry’s multimillion-pound LA mansion so he could be told of his grandfather’s death.

The US Embassy made repeated attempts to contact the royal in the early hours of the morning.

However, the Duke failed to pick up his phone to the calls, made a little after 3am.

Police from the sheriff’s department in Santa Barbara were then dispatched to the gates of his home in exclusive Montecito, TMZ claims.

They told him he needed to call the Embassy urgently.

The announcement of the Duke of Edinburgh’s death was made in an official statement by Buckingham Palace at 12 noon UK time – 4am LA time.

It means Harry is likely to have learned of Philip’s death less than an hour before the rest of the world.

It’s understood the royal family was desperate to tell Harry of the death personally to spare him the distress of learning the news in the media first.

But it’s also believed there was a particular drive to tell him as quickly as possible after he and Meghan’s bombshell Oprah interview aired on March 8.

The fallout from the chat continues months on after the pair made allegations that a senior royal had made a racist comment about the colour of Archie’s skin while Meghan was still pregnant.

Oprah later clarified neither the Queen nor the Duke of Edinburgh had been responsible for the comment.

Zac Efron’s ex-girlfriend Vanessa Valladares spotted at Australian Fashion Week - NEWS.com.au

Zac Efron’s Aussie ex Vanessa Valladares has been spotted looking chic at Sydney Fashion Week a few weeks after her break-up with the Hollywood star.

The 25-year-old Byron Bay model was spotted mingling with other guests on day one of Australian Fashion Week in Sydney on Monday, looking effortlessly glamorous in a white dress with patent leather black heeled sandals.

The former waitress, who is believed to be single following her split from Efron, had been pictured flying into Sydney on Sunday on a domestic flight from Ballina Airport, near Byron Bay.

Today, she attended the Rebecca Vallance show at Carriageworks.

RELATED: Wild twist in Zac and Vanessa story

After The Daily Telegraph reported the Hollywood actor and Aussie waitress had split after 10 months in April, Kyle Sandilands confirmed that the report was accurate and said he spoke to the Hairspray actor.

“It’s not a rumour, it’s true,” Kyle, who is friends with Zac, said about the split.

“It’s only recent, but not like yesterday recent, but they’ve gone their separate ways,” he said, adding there was “no drama” behind the break-up.

Instead, Kyle said the pair decided to end things due to Zac’s work schedule.

“They spent a lot of time with each other when he wasn’t working, lunching and living in the mansions on the beach; it’s a fabulous life,” Kyle said.

“And then work comes back and kicks you straight back into reality, so it’s a shame.”

RELATED: Juicy Zac Efron break-up details emerge

Earlier this month, Kyle confirmed another massive rumour about their relationship – and it completely alters the story of their ‘fairytale romance’.

According to initial reports of how the pair met, Zac became enamoured with the Byron Bay beauty when she served him at a local cafe, with her boss first introducing them around July.

But, according to Kyle after Pedestrian TV spotted a curious detail on Vanessa’s Instagram, they were actually together for much longer before they split earlier this month.

Speaking on KIIS FM, Jackie O asked her co-host Kyle to clarify how long he’d been with Valladares.

“Yes they’ve been together a lot longer than people realise,” Kyle confirmed.

Probing the shock jock about whether they met at The General Store in Byron Bay at all, Kyle added: “I don’t know where they met. I might have been told the story but I wouldn’t have cared.

“It’s been going for a little while … I don’t know exactly how long,” he said, adding that he “didn’t know” if it was indeed three years as the Pedestrian TV story speculated.

In yet another turn of events, a woman has come forward saying she had slept with the star “from April until July,” before reports of Zac and Vanessa’s romance blew up.

It suggests they’d been on-and-off for a while before the split.

Courteney Cox and Ed Sheeran ‘break the internet’ with iconic Friends dance routine - NEWS.com.au

One of the world’s biggest music stars has teamed up with Courteney Cox to recreate she and David Schwimmer’s iconic New Year’s Eve dance routine from Friends.

Fans may have been disappointed that the Gellar sibling’s routine didn’t feature in the long-awaited Friends reunion last week, but it seems Cox was determined to give fans what they want.

The actress and Grammy-winner Ed Sheeran took to Instagram to share the video. The pair had clearly done some practising, appearing to be perfectly in sync.

“Had a reunion of our own this weekend,” Sheeran wrote on Instagram alongside the video. He also added the cheeky hashtag #obviouslybetterthanross.

Fans went wild for the pair, “Did you just break the internet?!?!”, one fan commented.

The Big Bang Theory actress Kaley Cuoco wrote, “This is EPIC.”

Another noted, “Well, there’s no more internet … because it just exploded”.

The routine is one of the most memorable moments from the beloved sitcom. Cox and Schwimmer famously performed the dance the season 6 episode The One with the Routine.

It sees Monica and Ross perform their high school dance routine during the filming of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin Eve’, as they ring in the millennium.

Cox and Sheeran have been friends for some time with the singer introducing Cox to her partner, Johnny McDaid.

The Producer of the reunion Ben Winston recently explained why the dance didn’t feature.

“I did say, ‘Would you ever consider doing The Routine’ And both of them were like ‘Oh, please don’t make us do that.’ There were certain things I really cared for, like the table read or the quiz.” Winston added, “I also couldn’t work out where it would have worked. I’m not sure it would have landed 20 years later. But it was definitely on my list of ideas that I pitched.”

The reunion was a hit among fans, filled with a line-up of iconic guest appearance and emotional flashbacks. But shortly after airing, fans shared their concerns for Matthew Perry who slurred his words and had a thousand-yard stare. One of sitcom’s original producers, Kevin Bright, responded to these concerns in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, “What people say is what people say, I don’t have anything to say about that. I think he’s very funny on the show. But yes, I think he’s OK. He seems stronger and better since the last time I saw him, and excited about going forward.”

Tarzan star Joe Lara and diet guru wife ‘presumed dead’ after plane crash - NEWS.com.au

Tarzan star Joe Lara is among those presumed dead after a private jet crashed into a Tennessee lake, according to reports.

The actor, 58, was said to have been travelling on the Cessna 501 with his diet guru wife Gwen Shamblin Lara when the plane plunged into Percy Priest Lake, TMZ has said.

Joe, who starred in Tarzan: The Epic Adventures, had reportedly boarded the flight to Palm Beach, Florida, with Gwen and five others at Smyrna Airport near Nashville.

Human remains and plane debris have since been recovered from the wreckage site following the crash on Saturday morning.

Officials have released the names of all seven people they believe were aboard the small plane when it crashed into the water.

“All indications are that a total of seven people were on board,” a release from Rutherford County officials said. ”All are presumed dead.”

The victims are believed to be Joe and Gwen, along with Jennifer J. Martin, David L. Martin, Jessica Walters, Jonathan Walters, and Brandon Hannah, according to the statement.

Joe – real name William Joseph Lara – played Tarzan in the TV series, Tarzan: The Epic Adventures, from 1996 to 1997.

The show, which only ran for one season, focused on the character of Tarzan in his younger years.

Joe had previously taken the lead role in the television movie Tarzan In Manhattan.

The actor, who was also a martial artist, also appeared in the 1993 film American Cyborg: Steel Warrior and follow up flick Steel Frontier in 1995.

In more recent years, Joe – who has a daughter with his former fiancee Natasha Pavlovich – ditched acting in favour of country music.

He married Christian author and pastor Gwen in 2018. Gwen founded the Remnant Fellowship Church in 1999 and is the author of The Weigh Down Diet.

Gwen‘s daughter, Elizabeth Hannah, reportedly sent out a text message to Remnant church members asking for prayers following news of the crash.

She said that the plane had to go down “for a controlled, quick landing,” according to WTVF.

Along with Elizabeth‘s mother, the Martins and the Walters were church leaders. Brandon Hannah is Elizabeth’s husband.

In a statement to The Sun, the Remnant Fellowship Church said the families were still awaiting word from the authorities on Saturday evening.

The Shamblins, Hannahs, and Laras appreciate your concern, support and prayers,“ the statement said. ”The families are awaiting details from the authorities.

“The families will share details at the appropriate time.”

Cody Simpson on his romance with Miley Cyrus: 'It was just one of those phases' - PerthNow

Cody Simpson’s romance with Miley Cyrus looked to be burning bright hot for those that followed it on social media, but the aspiring Olympian has been less than glowing about their relationship.

In a new interview he has described it as “just one of those phases”.

The 24-year-old singer and swimmer ended his relationship with the Malibu hitmaker in August last year after less than a year together, and has now insisted “everything ended fairly amicably” between them.

However, Simpson seemed to suggest the romance didn’t have a big impact on him, as he labelled their high-profile relationship as a “phase”.

Speaking during an appearance on Australia’s 60 Minutes, he said: “I’d known her for a long time at that point. We went from being good friends, to just having a lot of the same friends, to being together for a while.

“Everything ended fairly amicably, and it was just one of those phases I guess. You go through (it) and you learn a lot from it.”

Cyrus, 28, and Simpson started dating in October 2019, shortly after the Midnight Sky hitmaker split from reality star Kaitlynn Carter.

And after their split in August, Cyrus said she “just realised it was time to move on and do their own things”.

“For right now, two halves can't make a whole, and we're individually just working on ourselves, becoming the people that we want to be,” she said.

“Like everybody else at this age, we're just deciding who we want to be with our lives, what we want to do with our lives. And so, don't make it some drama story if next week we hang out and we're getting pizza.

“We've been friends for 10 years, and we're going to continue to be friends. Just don't make it something that it is not.”

The Slide Away singer — who was previously married to actor Liam Hemsworth — also revealed she doesn't plan on tying the knot again or having children.

Asked if she would wed again or if she hopes to start a family, she said: “Not really, I never really cared that much. I am sure that my fans are going to pull me up at 12 saying 'Oh I want to have kids' but like I don't, as a 27-year-old woman that would have a little bit more of a realistic idea of what they want. That has never been kind of my priority.”

Martha Kalifatidis reignites feud with Sunrise host David ‘Kochie’ Koch - NEWS.com.au

Martha Kalifatidis has reignited her feud with Sunrise host David “Kochie” Koch by leaving him a “sassy” voicemail.

The feud started in 2019 when Kochie accused Martha of elbowing him on the Logies red carpet.

“I’ve still got bruises in the ribs from the Married At First Sight woman who elbowed me on the way through,” he said on Sunrise at the time. “I had no idea who she was.”

His comments prompted a pile-on from the other Sunrise hosts with Natalie Barr saying Martha “was fierce” and “had attitude” on the red carpet.

Sports presenter Mark Beretta joked: “Do not get between Martha and a camera,” and Samantha Armytage chipped in with, “Especially when you’ve only got 15 minutes of fame.”

Martha hit back in a YouTube video titled My Final Say To Kochie And Sunrise and denied the incident ever happened.

“Kochie refused to apologise for lying about the elbowing incident. He just thinks I don’t deserve an apology,” Martha said in the video. “It’s at the expense of my wellbeing and it’s not fair.

“He just thinks that because I was on a reality TV show and am a reality TV star that I don’t deserve to get an apology for him. Perhaps that I’m beneath him,” she said.

“I’m a person and I have feelings and Sam and Koch have caused me so much stress and anxiety these past few days and I just feel like it’s so unnecessary, like for what, for ratings?”

Former Sunrise co-host Sam Armytage was later asked by Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa if Martha really did elbow Kochie.

“No, it happened,” Armytage laughed. “I won’t throw any shade at Martha, but let’s not give it any more oxygen because the 15 minutes is going on and on.”

She continued: “Have you ever been on those red carpets? They’re pushy. Have you ever been on those red carpets with a reality star … it’s very pushy.”

The feud died down between Martha and Kochie after that, but this morning it came roaring back to life during the Celebrity Apprentice star’s appearance on Kyle and Jackie O.

Martha was challenged by the KIIS FM hosts to call five different celebrities on her phone. It all five answered, she would win $2000 for her favourite charity, Bully Zero.

One of the celebrities they challenged her to call was Kochie, but the call went to voicemail as Kochie was on air on Channel 7 at the time.

Martha left the breakfast TV host a message, saying: “Hey buddy, it’s Martha Kalifatidis calling you here from Kyle and Jackie O. Just wanted to call you up, we are working with Bully Zero, an amazing charity. We thought this would be a great opportunity for you to clean up on air that I never elbowed you on the red carpet and you clearly did that for clickbait and for some attention, which you got.”

After Martha hung up, Jackie O commented with delight: “It was a sassy message!”
