The Block judges blast Jimmy and Tam’s walk-in-robe: ‘Start again’ - NEWS.com.au

The Block’s reigning team came crashing down to Earth during Sunday’s episode, copping their first negative feedback from the judges – and plummeting from their usual first place to dead last in the scoring.

“Golden couple” Jimmy and Tam have been on a dream run so far this season, and at first it seemed that would continue as the judges critiqued their master bedroom. Neale Whitaker even called their bedroom “incredible” – but it all went south when the judges stepped into the walk-in-robe.

“What they found was not what they were expecting at all,” host Scott Cam warned the couple.

Jimmy and Tam had flipped the layout of their bathroom and WIR – meaning that, when finished, whoever lived there would need to walk from the bedroom through the bathroom to get to the wardrobe.

As the judges pointed out, it makes for a logistical nightmare.

“Darren asked the question, why do people generally put the robe first? Because if I’m doing a ‘Henry the Third’ and my missus wants to get changed for work, she has to walk through the bathroom,” Cam relayed.

If instead the robe was first, one person could privately use the bathroom while another was getting dressed.

Always big on practicality, Shaynna Blaze didn’t mince words.

“The master is one of the most important rooms in the house, because the people buying it are going to be living here. They have to get this right – and this is a disaster,” she said.

Darren Palmer agreed.

“That bedroom is one of the most impressive I’ve seen on The Block thus far – and this wardrobe is one of the most disappointing,” he said.

Darren’s solution was tough for the couple to hear: “You need to pull it all out and start again.”

In the end, Jimmy and Tam scored 21.5 points for their efforts from the judges, finishing in fifth place for the week – the first room they haven’t won.

Reeling from the negative feedback, the couple insisted they were not worried, and would commit to their vision – but in a preview of episodes to come this week, Jimmy is shown saying: “(It) all needs to come out; we pretty much need to start again.”

Very wise, Jimmy – the judges should be listened to and respected, despite what those cringe-worthy dance interludes (yes, there was another one in Sunday’s episode) might have you believe.

The Block continues 7.30pm Monday on Nine.
