From the get-go, Elly and Becky Miles made it clear to this year’s Bachelorette contestants that they’re not here to mess around.
Opening up about their joint journey to find love, the sisters told news.com.au they’re “not drama girls”, and on heading into the experience together, it was crucial their suitors were on the same page.
“I feel like it’s going to be a really wholesome watch this year,” Elly, who made the top four of Matt Agnew’s season of The Bachelor, said.

“We’re not drama girls,” she added, going on to explain: “We were very open with the guys in saying that we’re not here to battle it out for the guy, we don’t want that kind of drama that’s not what we’re here for.
“We’re here to find love, we’re here to support each other on that journey and if you guys can be open and honest with us that’s going to make things a lot clearer for us,” she said, adding: “It was really beautiful, we’re very proud to say we were completely ourselves.”
Bach fan favourite Elly left Matt’s season to shock from viewers last year, after becoming embroiled in the scandal surrounding runner-up Abbie Chatfield, who attracted criticism from contestants all season for her perceived aggressive approach towards pursuing Matt.
Now, in a global first for The Bachelor franchise, nurse Elly, 25, and contracting specialist Becky, 30, will each seek to find love in the pandemic-friendly reality TV realm.
But while the premise sounds like it could lead to fiery arguments between the pair, who will select potential partners from the same pool of contestants, they said the experience actually brought them closer together.
“We want the best for each other, and we both want each other to end up with an amazing guy and we’re so supportive of each other and always have been,” Elly said.
“There was never a concern for us about whether we’d fight over guys because we have too much respect for each other to ever allow that to happen. It’s sort of an automatic response that if Becky is into someone they’re in the brother basket.”
The unusual process was helped by the fact that the sisters, who are from Parkes in regional NSW, tend to look for slightly different qualities in men, Becky explained.
“Elly is after someone adventurous, happy, positive, someone who is quite outgoing and friendly and just a kind person. I guess the difference is Elly’s gone for more sporty guys, maybe a tradie, a blue collar kind of worker,” she said.
“For me, I’ve sort of dated more engineers in the past, people who are a bit more booksmart, maybe a bit more of an office worker.”
“You could definitely tell in the casting process they had that in mind. We had the best bunch of guys, such a diverse group and they were all just good blokes, good people,” Elly added.
While they both say the experience overall has been “amazing”, there was one aspect of reality TV stardom Becky, 30, admits she was nervous about going in.
“I never thought I’d do anything like this. I’m pretty private, I’m not big on the socials,” she explained. “I wasn’t sure how I was going to handle the media attention, but there are so many positives.
“After speaking to Elly and seeing her on Matt’s season of The Bachelor, she had some strong feelings for Matt so it gave me reassurance that it is a legit thing.
“There is proof in the pudding as well, there are so many couples that are still together. For me, I’m ready, I was in a place where I was ready to find my human, settle down and start a family, and it’s so good to do that with Elly.”
It all seems to have worked out for the sisters, with both revealing they’re “very happy” with who they’ve chosen.
“We both pick someone at the end, and we’re both really really happy,” Elly said.
“Honestly, we’re still on the journey, we’re just in this next stage where we’re in this time where we can actually spend time and get to experience real life with these guys and see where it takes us next. We’re so happy and we’re so lucky.”
The Bachelorette 2020 stars on October 7 at 7.30pm on Channel 10.
