The new-look Studio 10 panel was overcome with emotion this morning as hosts Sarah Harris and Angela Bishop opened up about their past experience with miscarriage.
During the heartbreaking chat, Harris recalled the devastation of losing a twin during her first pregnancy, while Bishop spoke about spiralling into depression after miscarrying with her second child.
It came after new host Tristan MacManus’ wife, former Blue Water High actress Tahyna Tozzi, appeared on the show to discuss her Stan documentary, MuM: Misunderstandings of Miscarriage, which focuses on her own three miscarriages.
MacManus, a father-of-two and judge on Channel 10’s Dancing With The Stars, made his debut alongside Harris on the show on September 14.

“A littler earlier on the show we were talking with Tristan’s gorgeous while Tahyna and she was sharing the stories of losing three of her children,” Harris, 39, began.
“Here on Studio 10 we’ve always like to be really open with people at home and share our own experiences, and it got Ange and I thinking that this is a time that we can share our own stories when it comes to miscarriage,” she said, before rolling a clip of her announcing her first pregnancy on the show in 2015.
Choking back tears as the footage came to an end, Harris, who now has two sons said: “I look back at that now and I get really teary because I was such a sad girl then.
“I started miscarrying at eight weeks … I remember it clear as day, it was the day before the Logies and I was trying on spanx and I was in the change room and there was just blood everywhere.
“I got into my GP and she said yeah you definitely are (miscarrying) but you’ll have to wait to get a scan. So for 36 hours I just bled and I thought ‘oh well, there’s my first baby gone’ and just dealt with it in my own way,” she recalled.

She went on to say when she eventually saw a specialist, she discovered she had actually lost her son Paul’s twin, with the sonographer telling her there was “still a heartbeat”.
While she felt blessed on hearing the news, it made for an anxious few weeks.
“This kickstarted this horror eight weeks of thinking ‘the other one is gonna fall out, the other one is going to detach and not make it’. I was too scared to do anything. I didn’t do any exercise because I was so scared.
“It was a traumatic experience because before it happened I’d been lifting heavy boxes moving house and I kept thinking ‘Did I make this happen? Did I cause this? … Did putting on Spanx cause this to happen?’” she admitted, before adding that she of course later learnt that miscarriage is far more complicated.
Sharing her own experience of losing a child, Angela Bishop, 53, revealed: “I was going through my eight weeks scan at nine weeks, this was my second pregnancy, and we went in to get the scan and there were those terrifying words, ‘There’s no heartbeat.’ That was absolutely devastating to me,” she recalled.
“For a whole lot of reasons, I just went back to work the next day … I never really dealt with it. Now, in retrospect, I know I went into a pretty bad period of depression.
“I was eating Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate bars like there was no tomorrow,” she said, asking “Why don’t we talk about it?”
She also said it wasn’t until she watched Tahyna’s documentary that it truly sunk in just how common miscarriage is among women.
“We were sitting watching this documentary, it was Sarah and I and our executive producer Tamara and we realised, as Tahyna held up the statistics that it was 1 in 4 women (who experience miscarriage), that we were three out of three. We hadn’t told each other our stories before.”
“It was like group therapy,” Harris later said of the screening.
Tahnya’s film, MuM: Misunderstandings of Miscarriage, is coming to Stan Australia on October 1.
