Delta Goodrem unlikely to return to The Voice due to ‘salary conflicts’ - NEWS.com.au

It is likely that original The Voice coach Delta Goodrem will not return to the show next season, after the series moved from Channel 9 to Channel 7.

The Seven Network announced that they secured rights to the singing competition over their rivals at Nine last month.

Now, it seems likely that Goodrem, 35, will leave the show after a “salary conflict” arose, as reported by The Daily Telegraph.

The singer is estimated to earn between $1 million to $2 million a year, which is within the network’s price range, as the publication reports.

Seven is allegedly in talks with other local artists to join the panel, alongside Guy Sebastian, 38, who they are likely to re-sign.

The Daily Telegraph also reported earlier this month that Seven is “set to axe coaches Boy George and Kelly Rowland” to cut costs.

The Daily Telegraph claimed that the network feels Nine “spent too much on B-listers” and would rather spend money on big name replacements.

“One of the big changes Seven plans to make is how much is being spent on coaches,” a source close to The Voice reportedly claimed.

They are said to be “in talks” with R&B artist Usher, Kylie Minogue and Jessica Mauboy as potential replacements.

Meanwhile, Sonia Kruger, 55, will return to her hosting duties for the show in 2021.

Last season of The Voice saw Chris Sebastian - brother of Guy Sebastian – take out the win.

Few had predicted Chris would go all the way to the end when he first auditioned for the show. But while the winner was publicly decided – viewers had voted for this result – some still cried foul, declaring the competition “rigged.”

Speaking to news.com.au a few days after the win, Goodrem scoffed at the controversy.

“Listen, if my brother wins The Voice, then maybe we’ve got a problem. Then we should question it, but not when you’ve got a talent like Chris,” she said.

Goodrem said she empathises with Sebastian’s rocky start as a Voice winner, offering him some simple advice: “You can’t look sideways. This is a new and wonderful chapter for Chris – to be signed to a label and to be able to pursue his dream.

“We’re all very happy for him. He sung beautifully throughout the whole show – there’s not much more to say.”
