LIVE: Emmys 2020: Winners, speeches and unexpected moments - NEWS.com.au

Viewers should brace for a few technical glitches at today’s Emmy Awards – because those behind the scenes certainly are.

“It’s not going to work properly all the time. It’s just not,” Emmys executive producer Ian Stewart said last week. “We’ve just got to embrace that.”

The 72nd annual Emmys will look very different to previous years with the traditional theatre seating ditched, as stars are set to appear from their homes to celebrate the past 12 months in television.

One star who won’t be in attendance – E! reporter and red carpet mainstay Giuliana Rancic, who made the shock announcement during the red carpet highlights package that she and her family have tested positive for coronavirus.

Jennifer Aniston's nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series today for her work on The Morning Show – and right now, she's enjoying some Emmys prep from home with a glass of champagne and a face mask:

"Emmys prep… in my OTHER mask," she captioned the pic.

A very unexpected announcement during E!'s red carpet coverage this morning. It's hard to imagine a red carpet without E! reporter Giuliana Rancic, but tonight she'll be watching from home, revealing in a video message that she, her husband and her son have tested positive for coronavirus.

"As part of E! and NBCUniversal's very strict testing guidelines, especially before an event like this, I did find out that I tested positive for COVID-19. Now as much as I didn't want to hear that, I'm very thankful I heard it before I traveled and possibly could have exposed other people. So for that, I'm thankful."

She said her family were all "doing well and taking care each other so I'm going to get back to doing that."
