Australia can still get everyone vaccinated by Christmas, according to a former health department secretary.
Jane Halton, who is the adviser responsible for a major review of the Australian quarantine system, said 150,000 Australians needed to be vaccinated every day to hit that target.
She told the Today show 141,000 doses were administered on Friday.
"If we can get to 150,000 people a day we can get there by Christmas," she said.
"It's a big task, a big challenge."
She said Australia's supply of Pfizer, which is imported, remained open to a small risk of logistical problems.
But supply of AstraZeneca, manufactured locally, was 100 per cent secure.
Halton said Australia would be best served by federal quarantine hubs, for people travelling high risk countries, and hotel quarantine for lower risk people which would be run by states.
