Two Versions Of "Spider-Verse" Are In Cinemas - Dark Horizons

Sony Pictures Animation

It has been revealed that multiple versions of Sony Pictures’ “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” are currently in cinemas, and eagle-eyed moviegoers have begun noticing the different cuts.

Andy Leviton, an associate editor on the films, posted in response on Twitter: “I was wondering when people might start noticing”. It seems there are two different prints out there and several sites have begun to compile the differences which includes differing dialogue and animations in a few scenes.

Speaking with sources, Indiewire has reportedly learned that the two different prints being out there was not the intended plan. It seems Sony shipped out the international version of the film early for translation purposes.

Then several of the last-minute changes failed to make it from the Los Angeles editing lab into those screened international versions, though it’s not clear why.

Then following the movie’s opening, some moviegoers complained they could not hear the dialogue in the pre-credits scene and so Sony rectified the issue with an updated version. That update potentially pushed the older international print out and replaced it with the current domestic print, but plenty of places around the world may still be showing the older print.

As several film distribution executives tell the outlet, it is exceedingly rare for a movie to be updated once engagement with audiences begins.

Adblock test (Why?)
