Abbie Chatfield has reignited her feud with Brittany Hockley this week, calling the podcast host “shady”.
Abbie made the comments on the Sit With Us podcast hosted by MAFS stars Domenica Calarco and Ella May Ding on Wednesday.
During the podcast, they touched on the controversy, pay disparities on reality TV, Abbie’s new man and her new TV show FBOY Island.
Sl*t shaming
The trio covered the controversy that came up after Brittany co-hosted the Kyle and Jackie O show with Kyle Sandilands in December last year.
Kyle and Brittany made comments about Abbie’s dating life during an interview with US rapper Yung Gravy in which he revealed he had a date lined up with Abbie.
“Oh Jesus. Do you? So you and everyone else,” Kyle said to the rapper. “Line up, my friend, line up”.
Brittany added, “I have no doubt”.
At the time, Abbie called it “sl*t shame-y”.
On Sit With Us, Abbie doubled down on her comments and revealed that Brittany “still hasn’t apologised”.
She added that Brittany probably felt a little bit jealous of her when she made the comments.
Abbie revealed that Yung Gravy messaged her after the interview and it made him uncomfortable.
“Call yourself a feminist but you’ll align yourself with Kyle Sandilands,” Abbie added.
“Brittany got caught out being shady and having internalised misogyny.”
Dom agreed and added that the industry was very “d*ck driven”.
“To see Brittany saying those things and then furthering the perpetuation that women have to f*cking fight for something, it makes me really angry because I hate this idea that as women, we always stand up for one another but you know what there’s actually not a lot of that.
“I still feel as though women are pitted against each other”.
Reality TV pay
During the podcast, the trio also touched on the pay disparity between MAFS and The Bachelor.
Abbie appeared on The Bachelor in 2019, while Ella and Dom appeared on MAFS in 2022.
Dom and Ella told Abbie they pocketed $110 a day for MAFS, while Abbie claims she received $90 for The Bachelor.
“It’s gone up now,” Dom said about the MAFS pay.
While all three had to cook for themselves during the filming of their shows, Abbie received groceries from production while Ella and Dom had to buy their own.
“I saved so much money because I didn’t have any expenses,” Abbie told the pair. “I still had to pay rent and was still buying food and stuff,” Dom replied.
“And it was lockdown so we had nothing else to do other than shopping.”
Dating
Abbie revealed how hard it was to date someone who was also in the spotlight.
She said she had two options: One, date someone in the industry, or, two date someone who was not in the industry.
“Dating is f*cked for me,” Abbie said. “I just find the media aspect awful.
“If you’re in the industry then you cannot literally leave the house together at all.
“One of them, the only time we left the house together was to get antidepressants, slay.”
Abbie said dating someone who was not in the industry was also hard because either “they’ll hate it or they’ll love it” and if they love it she’ll assume they are using her.
She also revealed she is dating someone at the moment who was not in the industry.
“He’s a full-blown normie. He has no social media, he hates it,” she said. “He doesn’t have a TV. He has watched my shows though.”
Dom said her partner Jack also doesn’t understand anything about the industry.
“I find it hard when I’m really excited about something that’s just happened and then he doesn’t get it,” she said. “I feel let down that he’s not excited.”
FBOY Island
The trio talked about how seeing the Fboys on FBOY Island reminded them of the Fboys they had dated in the past and said it made them feel “traumatised”.
“FBOY is a breath of fresh air,” Domenica said. “Because it’s taking the p*ss out of f*ck boys.”
“The show is a satire, it is a comedy,” Abbie added.
“Everything is very female-oriented, the point of the show is to show this is what happens in everyday life.”
Abbie said she had been blindsided by one of the FBoys on the show that she had actually picked as a nice guy.
“Some you think are FBoys and it turns out they aren’t there for the money,” she said.
“What is the most f*ck girl thing you’ve done to a nice guy?” Dom asked.
Abbie revealed she actually did it to a girl, not a guy...
She said the first woman she had sex with was her roommate and after they had sex she asked her to sleep in her own bed.
