Australian Survivor contestant booted after voting turns public - NEWS.com.au

WARNING: Survivor Spoilers ahead.

There were tense scenes during Tuesday night’s Australian Survivor tribal council, as voting was forced out in the open – and contestants turned on one player, who was sent packing in one of the game’s most ego-bruising exits.

Both of the new-look Brains and Brawn tribes headed to tribal council together, and it started with a shock: contestant Georgia was nowhere to be seen, needing medical attention after appearing quite ill around camp earlier in the episode.

“Georgia is with the medics. The rules of Survivor allow someone to leave the game for 24 hours for medical reasons, so if she’s able to return, she will,” host Jonathan LaPaglia told the two tribes. “But that doesn’t change the business of tonight.”

Elsewhere, Cara reflected on the epic stuff-up at Monday’s tribal council, where she wrote the wrong name on her parchment and sent one of her key allies, Daini, packing. She admitted she was nervous that blunder would put her in the firing line tonight.

George told her not to be worried: “I just think Cara’s an icon. It was an iconic Cara moment!”

LaPaglia counted the votes – and revealed that Laura and Shannon had both been voted out by their respective tribes. Then came the twist: Only one of them would be going home, and it would fall to this week’s four winning players – Wai, Emmett, Rachel and Andrew – to decide who. The decision would have to be unanimous, otherwise a fire-making challenge would determine who stayed.

And for a hot minute, it seemed like that’s what would happen: Rachel and Andrew wanted Laura to stay, and Wai and Emmett wanted Shannon to stay.

“I would obviously choose Shannon to stay, because she is part of the Brawn tribe,” said Emmett, who admonished his old tribe for “screwing up what they were supposed to be doing.”

A visibly frustrated Simon couldn’t bite his tongue any longer.

“You don’t know the half of it, mate. Shannon was the first one, when we got back to camp, who tried to tear it down. She tried to flush my idol and vote out Chelsea,” he revealed in front of everyone.

And that was all Wai and Emmett needed to hear – Wai announced she wanted to keep Brawn 2.0 unified and was now voting to keep Laura in the game and boot Shannon.

“Shannon, that’s not cool. Looks like you’re going home,” Emmett told her, changing his vote as well.

Silent throughout, Shannon was ousted, left to lament her fate after Jonathan had snuffed her torch. “I played the game that I wanted to play - and it bit me on the arse,” she admitted. “I went in overly confident with a plan, and Simon saw right through it.

“If I could’ve got Simon, that would’ve been me winning Survivor.

Australian Survivor: Brains V Brawn continues 7:30pm Sunday on Ten.
