British comedian and TV host Alan Carr’s husband Paul Drayton has apologised to the star after posting a photo of himself with a black eye.
Actor Paul posted the picture on Instagram and told a fan: “We had a bad row.”
But just hours after deleting the snap, Paul posted an apology to his famous husband.
“I’m feeling very fragile at the minute and would like to say that Alan would not and has never hit me,” he wrote. “And I’m devastated that he has to deal with this today.”
But now, Drayton insists he caused his own injury. “I punched myself in the face because I hate myself. There was no fight,” he told the Mail Online today.
“The Instagram post was just a joke, that’s all. I bet a lot of people are wondering what it’s all about but I’m getting the help I need.”
Comedian and chat show host Alan, 45, insisted he was not responsible for the injury.
He said Paul, 49 — who went into rehab following their wedding in 2018 — had gone back on the booze.
Alan told The Sun: “While I was away filming on location the past few weeks, Paul fell off the wagon and started drinking again.

“When I arrived back home from Wales, Paul was covered in scratches and bruises from a drinking binge.
“We are now working together to get the help he needs to get better, which is our number one priority right now.”
Three days earlier Paul had shared a photo of him looking dishevelled with vomit on his T-shirt.
He captioned it: “This is what alcoholism does to you. My gorgeous husband took this pic.”
Celebrity friends rallied around, with TV presenter Carol Vorderman writing: “We love you Paul,” and actress Tamzin Outhwaite adding: “When was this? Are you OK?”
Alan and Paul wed at friend Adele’s Los Angeles home and they have now been together for more than 14 years.
Alan admitted last August that Paul had been tempted to start drinking again in lockdown, but had resisted.
He said: “It’s been tough for Paul. He’s been saying, ‘Oh, shall we get a bottle?’ and I say, ‘No, we’re not getting any rosé wine in’. He’s been so good and I’m so proud of him.”
