The Bachelorette 2020: Becky dumped someone to go on show - NEWS.com.au

New Bachelorette Becky Miles has come clean about a long-running rumour surrounding her casting on the show.

Speaking on KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O ahead of tonight’s premiere, Becky, 30 admitted she was “seeing someone” when she was approached to be co-Bachelorette with her 25-year-old sister Elly.

“I was single, but I was seeing somebody for a short period of time, yeah,” she revealed on air.

“Just a bang buddy?” Kyle asked.

“Yeah,” Becky responded, adding: “We left on really good terms … I said to him, ‘there’s this opportunity that’s come up with Elly, it’s like TV dating thing, just to be clear with you, this is what I wanted to do’”.

Becky’s revelation comes after Hughesy and Ed co-host Ed Kavalee claimed on air back in July that Becky was in a relationship, but ended it so she could appear on the reality show.

“The person that she was with found out she was doing this show from the press,” Kavalee said.

Asking for clarification, Hughesy said: “So he thought he was in a relationship with the older sister and he’s found out that he’s no longer in a relationship with her when he saw the press release that she was on The Bachelorette?”

“Yes,” Kavalee said.

While Becky’s on air confession today is the first time we’ve heard of the nature of her relationship status before casting, it wasn’t the first time Becky has responded to the rumours.

Responding to Kavalee’s initial claims, Becky told Woman’s Day she “wasn’t in a relationship”.

“I wasn’t in a relationship when I signed on to this, I can tell you that! I was casually dating someone before the show, which was for a short amount of time,” she told the publication.

“When I told him about this opportunity I tried to be honest as possible and we left on a good note.”

Elsewhere in the revealing chat with Kyle and Jackie O this morning, Elly, who appeared on Matt Agnew’s season of The Bachelor, commented on speculation surrounding rugby star Joe Woodbury’s inclusion in the cast.

“I definitely did not invite Joe to be on the show … I had no idea he was going to be there,” she said, laughing.

“Was Joe someone you’d been with before?” Kyle probed.

“I did know Joe before going on The Bachelorette …” Elly said before Kyle interjected: “Sexually or just a coffee date?”

“I can’t … can’t say,” she answered awkwardly before big sister Becky chimed in “You’ll find out when you watch the show won’t you,” to which Elly agreed.

While it sounds like the Joe storyline could make for a Bachie-HQ scandal, last month the stars told news.com.au viewers can expect a drama-free season.

“I feel like it’s going to be a really wholesome watch this year,” Elly said.

“We’re not drama girls,” she added, going on to explain: “We were very open with the guys in saying that we’re not here to battle it out for the guy, we don’t want that kind of drama, that’s not what we’re here for.”

They also confirmed they each find love — though Becky said today she was torn “right up until the final date”, much like our most recent Bachelor Locky Gilbert.
