He’s one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, but Chris Hemsworth has joked about making a career change.
While chatting on the Today show on Thursday, the 37-year-old joked that if “acting doesn’t pan out” he could try his hand at being a weatherman.
Host Allison Langdon gave him the idea when she praised his weather reading skills after he crashed Weekend Today weather presenter Lauren Phillips last month.
“Looks like (Lauren) didn’t really need a hand. I just thought I’d interrupt and help out anyway,” Hemsworth responded.

“If this acting thing doesn’t work out, I’ll be knocking on the door.”
Allison added: “You can be the Today show weather presenter. I would bump Tim (Davies) and Lauren off for that”.

Last month, the star surprised fans when he made an appearance on Weekend Today, walking onto the screen behind Phillips who was about to read the weather, in the NSW town of Scone.
Back in the studio, hosts Richard Wilkins and Rebecca Maddern were stunned to see the A-lister on their screen.
“Let’s mispronounce all of these. All right, let’s do this,” Hemsworth said as he was invited to read the weather.

After Phillips joked that he would eventually steal her job, he explained why he was in the small town.
He was visiting people in the area who work with protecting Australia’s ecosystems and wildlife.
As the presenter and her new friend signed off, Maddern still couldn’t quite believe what had just happened.
“Dickie, you’re the one who usually comes up with the big names on this show, but you have been TRUMPED. What about that? Chris Hemsworth. Did that just happen? He just read the weather on Weekend Today. My year made. They said 2020 was bad, no it’s not. I’m a bit hot!”

More of these surprise appearances may be in the cards for the future, with the family looking to leave their LA lifestyle behind.
The Hemsworths look to be making Byron Bay their permanent home base, after deciding to put their Malibu house up for sale, which could score them a $2 million profit in the process.
Five years ago, Chris Hemsworth had said to be feeling ‘suffocated’ by his Hollywood career, when they officially moved their family from Los Angeles to Byron Bay and began building their dream home – a whopping $20 million mega-mansion in Broken Head.
Around that time, Chris, wife Elsa Pataky – along with Chris’ two brothers, Liam and Luke – forked out $4.7 million (US$3.45 million) for a secluded house in Malibu, California – where they could stay at when in LA for work and industry events, Variety reports.
But now it appears the Hemsworth brothers have made the decision to vacate the USA, by putting the stunning home on the market for $6.7 million (US $4.9 million), $2 million more than they paid for it four years ago.
