Victoria's coronavirus restrictions will ease on these dates — but only if COVID-19 case numbers are low enough - ABC News

"We can't run out of lockdown," Daniel Andrews told Victorians as he revealed his roadmap to recovery.

"We have to take steady and safe steps."

Those steps are set to a schedule, but many of the dates are conditional on case numbers fall to target levels.

"If we open up too fast, then we have a very high likelihood that we are not really opening up at all — we are just beginning a third wave," the Premier warned.

And he hasn't ruled out changing things along the way.

But this is the plan as it stands.

From September 14 in metropolitan Melbourne:

  • Stage 4 continues for another two weeks
  • The night-time curfew is pushed from 8:00pm to 9:00pm
  • Exercise is increased to two hours per day
  • People who live on their own and single-parent households can nominate one person to visit them
  • Public outdoor gatherings of two people, or a household, are allowed for up to two hours rather than one. It can be exercise or spending time outside
  • Playgrounds can reopen

From September 14 in regional Victoria:

  • Up to five people from two households can meet outdoors
  • People who live on their own and single-parent households can nominate one person to visit them
  • School students will make a staged return to onsite learning
  • Childcare can open to all children
  • Playgrounds and outdoor pools can reopen
  • Outdoor religious gatherings (not ceremonies) are allowed with up five people, plus one faith leader
  • Retail can open with density restrictions
  • Hairdressers can open

From September 28* in metropolitan Melbourne:

*Subject to average daily cases between 30 and 50 in the two weeks prior.

  • Public gatherings increase to five people from two households
  • Schools host a staged return for prep, grade one, grade two, VCE and VCAL students
  • Specialist schools resume
  • Childcare reopens
  • Weddings can be held for compassionate reasons, with up to five people including the couple and celebrant
  • Outdoor pools reopen
  • Outdoor training can resume, with two people per personal trainer
  • Outdoor religious gatherings (not ceremonies) are allowed with up five people, plus one faith leader

When regional Victoria gets below five daily cases* on average:

*Over a two-week period, and with no mystery cases.

  • There are no restrictions on reasons or distance when leaving home
  • Up to 10 people are allowed to gather in groups outside
  • Household bubbles are allowed, with a nominated household allowed up to five visitors from one other household
  • Hospitality venues are allowed to open outdoor seated service, but group limits of 10 and density limits apply
  • Private real estate inspections are allowed by appointment, and auctions are allowed outdoors, subject to gathering limits

From October 26* in metropolitan Melbourne:

*Subject to average daily cases fewer than five over the previous two weeks.

  • Curfew no longer applies
  • There are no restrictions on reasons or distance when leaving home
  • Public gatherings will increase to 10 people outdoors
  • Up to five visitors are allowed in the home from another nominated household
  • Weddings can have up to 10 people including the couple, witnesses and the celebrant
  • Outdoor religious gatherings are allowed with one faith leader and 10 people
  • Retail and hairdressers can reopen
  • Hospitality businesses can open for predominantly outdoor seated service
  • There will be a staged return of outdoor non-contact adult sport

From November 23* across Victoria:

*Subject to no new cases for the two weeks prior.

  • Public gatherings of up to 50 people are allowed outdoors
  • Up to 20 visitors are able to visit a home
  • All retail can open
  • Hospitality venues can have up to 20 indoor patrons with seated service
  • Real estate inspections and auctions can resume
  • Gyms and other indoor recreation centres can reopen
  • There's a further easing of restrictions on sports spectators
  • Weddings and funerals can have up to 50 people outdoors, or 20 in a private residence
  • Accommodation providers can open fully
