“She’s here. Our sweet girl, Elle. After 27.5 hours of labour, she flew into the world and expanded our hearts. We are so grateful for our healthy baby and cannot wait for her to meet her big brother,” Holt wrote.

Meanwhile, her husband praised her for being so tough during the long labour, as well as going through the pregnancy during a global pandemic.

“@claireholt again proved to me she is my hero and a true warrior – I love you with all my heart. Thank you so much for birthing this sweet little girl in a challenging year,” he wrote.

“All the women out there, no debate from me, you guys are the superior gender and it’s not even close! 9.12.2020 – my heart is full,” Joblon wrote.

The couple’s eldest son, 18-month-old James, was born after Holt suffered a miscarriage with her first pregnancy.

Holt opened up about the “devastating” miscarriage on Dr Berlin’s Informed Pregnancy podcast last year.

“I think it was the hardest thing I’ve ever dealt with in my life,” she said.

The Originals star added that the feeling was similar to the death of loved ones, “with the guilt of, ‘I couldn’t do this’”.

Six weeks into the pregnancy, she saw her child’s heartbeat, but two weeks later, doctors gave her the bad news that the baby was measuring small, advising her not to announce news of the pregnancy.

“I had no idea what that meant – ‘Is that OK? Do some babies measure small? What do you mean, ‘Don’t put it on Facebook?’ Do you mean wait because everyone should wait? Is there a problem – does this mean something? What’s the heart rate?’

“I had no bleeding, I had no cramping,” she said, admitting she felt personally responsible.

“I just remember feeling this sense of, ‘Oh my God, what have I done? Have I done something? Was this my fault? Should I not have gone running? Did I eat something bad? Was it because I wore perfume? Is it because I had a glass of wine two days before I found out I was pregnant?’” she said. “I really had to focus on getting out of that place and trying to hope that things would be OK.”

Now, the couple have recently celebrated their two-year wedding anniversary and have two healthy children.
