Fan favourite Reece Hignell has become an unlikely Back to Win frontrunner after tonight’s smoky Mystery Box challenge.
It comes just after the affable cook nailed Tuesday’s Chin Chin pressure test, with judge Jock Zonfrillo labelling him one to watch for the remainder of the competition.

Serving up a smoked chocolate mousse dish Wednesday night, the judges were blown away by his stunningly-plated and perfectly-balanced creation.
The fact that it came with a “cute” chocolate shard and matched both his and Mel’s outfits was just the cherry on top.
MasterChef viewers flocked to Twitter to throw their support behind the humble 28-year-old contestant, who has long been a fan favourite on the season but has thrived in recent challenges.
Some even called for a Reece and Brendan spin-off based on their heartwarming friendship.
Weeks prior, guest judge Katy Perry called it – hilariously dubbing Reece “the tits”.
Elsewhere in the episode, usually cool, calm and collected dessert wizard Reynold Poernomo — who also served up a smoked chocolate mousse — seemingly unravelled, presenting a dish the judges critiqued as “not his best work” despite his faultless technique.
His “caramelised banana cream” let him down after the fruit dehydrated in the oven.
“I really tried to do too much,” a disappointed Reynold told the judges on presenting his plate.
“You need to be thinking about flavour first, technique second, yeah?,” Jock Zonfrillo told the 26-year-old.
Speaking to the camera, Reynold said: “I've got to be smarter. I've got to dial things back.”
Emelia, Poh, Reece and Laura will battle it out for immunity tomorrow night.
