Woman claiming to be Madeleine McCann reveals DNA results - Sky News Australia

A Polish woman who claimed she was Madeleine McCann has received shocking results from a DNA test.

Julia Faustyna, who also goes by Julia Wendell or Julia Wandelt, has maintained her belief that she is the missing British girl and underwent an ancestry test to validate her claims.

Her spokeswoman, psychic medium Dr Fia Johansson, has on Tuesday night revealed the outcome of the test.

“Julia’s test results are back. We finally know the reality,” Ms Johansson wrote to Instagram.

“Although it is impossible to tell for sure without the parent’s DNA results on either side, the test results speak to the origins of Julia’s root.

“The test results revealed that she is 100% of Polish heart, with negligible influence from Lithuania, and Russia.

“The DNA test results did not show any connection to British or even German roots.”

The 21-year-old has now moved to be with her dad.

The psychic medium said the story was “much more complicated than a simple girl from a small town in Poland making a claim to get attention”.

“She truly believed what she was saying, and with so many questions about her childhood it is easy to understand where she was coming (from),” she added.

Ms Johansson also revealed she had an interview with Ms Faustyna that she prepared before leaving the United States.

“She broke down in tears about her past. It is a summary of our journey together and what we learned,” she wrote.

Polish woman aged 21-years-old claims to be Madeleine McCann

The results come weeks after the pair’s appearance on Dr Phil, where they presented evidence supporting Ms Faustyna’s claim.

When the television personality asked Ms Faustyna what she would if her results came back tying her to her Polish parents, she said: “I believe I am Madeleine McCann”.

Ms Faustyna’s family maintained she was their biological relative in a statement published in February.

“For us as a family it is obvious that Julia is our daughter, granddaughters, sister, niece, cousin and step niece,” her parents said.

“Threats to our address from Julia, her lies and manipulations, activity on the internet. The interest won’t forget, and it’s obvious that Julia isn’t Maddie. We are devastated at this current situation.”

Ms Faustyna is one of many women to come out over the years claiming to be Madeleine McCann.

The public fascination with the case began when the three-year-old went missing on May 3 in 2007 while holidaying with her family in Portugal.

Madeleine had disappeared from an apartment, where she was sleeping alongside her siblings.

Parents Kate and Gerry McCann were dining nearby and realised their daughter was missing when the mother checked on the children around 10pm.

An immediate search of the area was conducted, but yielded no results.

The case has been unsolved since, as former police investigators involved in the case revealed how authorities failed to find Madeleine in a Sky News Australia Digital Originals Exclusive.

Retired head of a missing persons unit Mike Neville and former senior child protection officer Jim Gamble did, however, believe there was a “glimmer of hope” which could finally solve the case.
