Meghan’s party plans for Prince Archie’s fourth birthday - Sky News Australia

Meghan Markle is reportedly planning an “intimate party” for her son Prince Archie’s fourth birthday celebrations which will fall on the same day as the royal coronation of King Charles on May 6.

Last week, Buckingham Palace confirmed Prince Harry would attend the coronation of King Charles III alone without his wife Meghan and their two children.

"Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that the Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May,” the statement read.

Archie’s birthday celebrations are believed to be part of the reason the Duchess of Sussex declined to attend the coronation of King Charles III.

The possible attendance of the entire Sussex clan hung in the balance for several weeks as Harry and Meghan allegedly “negotiated” a list of demands with King Charles.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex supposedly requested that Archie and Princess Lilibet be acknowledged in the coronation and also wanted to stand on the famed Buckingham Palace balcony alongside the senior royal family.

After Charles refused to meet the demands, Harry appears to have compromised by agreeing to attend the coronation by himself.

However, the Duke of Sussex is expected to "race home" and make Archie's fourth birthday celebrations later that day.

“Harry’s going to make every effort to get back in time for Archie’s birthday,” a source told Page Six.

Markle is rumoured to be inviting celebrity guests in addition to her mother Doria Ragland, Archie’s school friends and their mothers.

“It’s going to be an intimate party, it’s not going to be like ‘My Super Sweet 16’ or Portia de Rossi’s 50th,” the source added.

Possible celebrity attendees include the couple’s close friend, billionaire entertainer Tyler Perry.

Perry made the cut for Princess Lilibet’s recently baptism and serves as her godfather, and even flew in a ten-person choir from Atlanta to perform at the event.

Harry and Meghan chose to give Archie and his sister Lilibet the titles of Prince and Princess after criticising the royal family in their Oprah tell-all, Netflix series and in the Duke’s memoir Spare.

Despite choosing to skip the coronation, the Duchess of Sussex appears to be continuing to pursue a high public profile.

After celebrating her son’s birthday, Meghan will travel to New York on May 16 to accept an award from the Women of Vision Awards.

The Duchess will be presented with an award by women’s rights icon Gloria Steinem honoring her as a “feminist, champion of human rights and gender equity, and global role model.”
