Russell Crowe left radio hosts stunned on Thursday morning when he made a bizarre X-rated remark live on-air while promoting his new horror film The Pope’s Exorcist

The Australian actor appeared on 2DAY FM’s Hughesy, Ed & Erin and spoke openly about the film’s budget and how much money it has grossed at the box office.

“It’s a very well-put-together movie in terms of scheduling and costs and stuff,” he shared.

“So I think it only ended up costing about $18 million and we’re at about $53 or $54 million [in the box office] so far.”

Host Erin Molan then asked Russell a “crass” question about how much money he’s personally made from the project.

“Do you get a portion of profits? Did you just get a big chunk? Is it incentive driven?” she questioned. “How filthy are you now, rich-wise?”

The Gladiator star went on to say that from a financial perspective, he has been “amply taken care of”.

“And if you want even deeper specifics on the ongoing, there is a kiss at every turn,” he shared, which was met with wild cheers from the radio hosts.

“I’ve been in the business a long, long time and one of the things that I’ve always made sure of is that because I know the type of commitment I give to something, I like to get paid to work.”

When asked for details on the “kiss” and whether it was a “peck on the cheek” or an “open mouth snog”, Russell explained that he had to split the revenue with plenty of other people.

“It’s more like group sex rather than one peck,” he said. “It’s Hollywood, of course it’s an orgy.”

The Pope’s Exorcist is based on the true story of Father Gabriele Amorth, who became Chief Exorcist in 1992 and claims to have performed around 160,000 exorcisms throughout his career.

He passed away in 2016 at age 91 but gave film producer Michael Patrick Kaczmarek the rights to his books before his death.
