Natalie Barr has been revealed as Samantha Armytage’s replacement as co-host on the popular breakfast television show Sunrise.
The journalist will start in Armytage’s role on Monday, Barr confirmed in an interview with The Sunday Telegraph.
After eight years in the high-profile role with co-host David Koch, Armytage announced on Monday that she needed a break.
Barr, who has been a part for the Sunrise family for more than 15 years, was the hot favourite for the sought-after gig.
Other personalities from Seven that were in the mix included Weekend Sunrise co-host Monique Wright, Sunrise entertainment presenter Edwina Bartholomew and journalist Angela Cox.

Armytage was emotional last week when she announced she was leaving.
“The time has come for the sun to set on my time at Sunrise. As many of you know, of my personal life the last six months have been very bittersweet, some bits happy, and I want to step out of this and calm things down, take some time, enjoy a bit of slow living with my precious family and husband,” she told viewers.
“I go out of this job at a time on top of the ratings, which not many people do not get to do.
“Now it’s time to spend a bit and only after I feel refreshed, and after I take a break, will I decide on my next chapter.”
Armytage will remain with the Seven Network for any future projects, and is hosting a weekly podcast for News Corp’s Stellar titledSomething To Talk About with Samantha Armytage.

The television personality broke down in tears as she bid farewell to Sunrise on Thursday, also blasting parts of the media for “bullying” her throughout her career.
At the end of her final show on air, Armytage thanked the cast and crew before saying: “I do want to say that I never fully understood some of the scrutiny and the snarkiness and the bullying from some aspects of the media, but today we move on from that because there is a new chapter starting. It has been overwhelmingly a good experience in my life.
“Thank you, most of all, to all our viewers, you are just wonderful people. There are so many lovely people out there, so many more lovely ones than the nasty ones.”
