Imagine a world where Jenna and Matty, wishing dust and doll houses never existed.
Jennifer Garner dished on her favourite memory from 13 Going on 30 (released as Suddenly 30 in Australia) while promoting her new film Yes Day, and to many fans’ surprise, she revealed Mark Ruffalo almost quit the film.
The 48-year-old actress said Ruffalo, 53, nearly pulled out of the 2004 rom-com after not being able to get down the moves for the infamous dance scene set to Michael Jackson’s Thriller.

“We started to learn the dance,” she says in a Q&A with theSkimm.
“Our first rehearsal, I think it was like Mark, Judy (Greer) and me, and Judy and I were both dancers growing up, and poor Mark didn’t know that. He came in and hated the rehearsal process so much, he almost dropped out of the movie.”

Garner and Ruffalo recently caused a fan frenzy when they posted a picture reuniting on the set of their new sci-fi movie, The Adam Project, in which they play parents to a time-travelling Ryan Reynolds’ 13-year-old self.
“Reconnecting with an old pal. Anyone know where we can get Razzles in Canada,” Ruffalo captioned the sweet photo, referencing their favourite confectionery in 13 Going on 30. Garner posted the same photo with a similar sentiment.
“Wishing dust worked! And I got a perfect day with my old pal,” she wrote.
As for working with her old-time buddy, Garner gushed to Good Morning America about how “wonderful” and easy it was to film together again.
“We were playing a married couple and we just had this instant comfort, and obviously there’s just such a connection and a warmth,” she said.
“It was actually a really beautiful experience to revisit that relationship.”
While fans still hope to see a sequel to 13 Going on 30, Garner has made it clear it just isn’t in the cards.
“What, like ‘15 Going on 50’?” she said in an April 2019 interview. “Let’s simmer down and then let’s leave well enough alone.”
But Garner did speculate on what her character, Jenna Rink, is up to now, noting that she would “still be whimsical and have a little bit of fun”.
“But – oh, gosh, I have to go back and watch this movie,” she added. “It’s so fun … Is Poise still going? Is it all online? What’s happening?”
