British singer-songwriter Dame Vera Lynn, who held a special place in the hearts of Britons for boosting morale during World War II, has died aged 103, her family says.
A family statement said Dame Lynn was surrounded by her close family.
They did not give a cause for her death.
"The family are deeply saddened to announce the passing of one of Britain's best-loved entertainers," the statement said.
"Dame Vera Lynn, who lived in Ditchling, East Sussex, passed away earlier today, 18 June 2020, surrounded by her close family."
During World War II, she performed in countries including India and Burma and became known as the 'Forces' Sweetheart'.
More to come.
