Prince Harry and Meghan have rushed to publicise their birthday video call to the Queen — just days after cutting ties with tabloid media.
The privacy-obsessed couple’s 11-month-old son Archie was included in the call to his great grandmother, who hasn’t seen him in person since last year.
According to The Daily Mail, shortly after wishing the Queen a happy 94th birthday from their Californian mansion, the couple asked their spokesman to email a selection of hand-picked publications to share details.
Their decision to publicise it comes just days after the couple adopted a zero-engagement policy with four of Britain’s biggest tabloids.
In a letter to the editors of The Sun, Daily Mail, Daily Express and Daily Mirror newspapers on Sunday, the couple said there would be no further corroboration with the outlets.
"Media have every right to report on and indeed have an opinion on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, good or bad. But it can't be based on a lie," the letter said.
