Gen Z social media sensation Charli D’Amelio is being slammed for posing as a check-out chick at Walmart to promote her new product.
D’Amelio, 19, was prancing around the affordable chain store to promote her new popcorn range.
The star was seen wearing a Walmart uniform with a nametag and smiling as she scanned items at the check-out.
The video of her cosplaying as working class has been viewed more than 80 million online, and people aren’t impressed with the act.
“Rich people pretending to be poor, how beautiful,” someone tweeted
“Role playing as a hardworking Walmart cashier is kind of low,” another mused.
Someone else said that they thought the TikTok star was making a “mockery” of the working class.
Another tweeted that they were fed up with people trying so hard to be relatable and another claimed it was the most “cringe” thing they’d ever seen.
“Role-playing as the middle class is crazy,” someone tweeted.
D’Amelio is one of the world’s hottest social media celebrities, with more than 151 million followers on TikTok and 40 million followers on Instagram.
She also caused a huge stir online after breaking up with fellow creator Lil Huddy and dating one of his best friends, Landon Barker.

D’Amelio isn’t the first high-profile celebrity who has used working a regular job as a gimmick.
A-list musician Ed Sheeran was spotted working a humble retail gig at a Lego store in August.
Sheeran shared on Instagram that he spent a day working as a “brick specialist” at the local Lego store in Minneapolis’ iconic Mall of America.
