Lisa Marie Presley appeared unsteady on her feet and was slurring her words in interviews during her final public appearance at the Golden Globes.
The 54-year-old died following a reported cardiac arrest in Los Angeles on Thursday (local time), her mother Priscilla Presley confirmed on Twitter.
"It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us," Priscilla Presley said.
Elvis Presley’s only child was last seen in public alongside her mother at Wednesday’s Golden Globes.
In a red carpet interview with Extra entertainment reporter Billy Bush, the King of Rock’s daughter appeared wobbly on her feet.
She turned to her talent manager Jerry Schilling, who was standing by her side, and said “I’m gonna grab your arm”.
Presley spoke about Austin Butler’s “authentic” performance as her father in the biographical drama recently released about his life.
She appeared ashen-faced and was slurring her words while holding onto Schilling’s arm.
Lisa Marie and her mother Priscilla attended the Golden Globes to celebrate the three nominations received by the film Elvis, which was helmed by Australian director Baz Luhrmann.
Austin Butler took home the Best Actor in a Drama film for his portrayal of Elvis.
The actor gave a heart-wrenching tribute to the Presley women in his acceptance speech, telling Lisa Marie and Priscilla he would love them “forever”.
“Thank you for opening your hearts, your memories, your home to me,” he said.
Lisa Marie Presley had just commemorated her father’s birthday on January 8 with daughter Riley Keough alongside Luhrmann and Butler.
She emotionally told the audience at the Graceland event she was “so overwhelmed by the film and the effect it has had”.
“What Baz has done, Austin has done, I’m so proud and I know that my father would also be very proud,” she said.
The star was found unresponsive at her home in the Californian city of Calabasas and was subsequently rushed to hospital.
Presley has made headlines throughout her life for her high-profile marriages – to Danny Keogh, Michael Jackson, Nicolas Cage and Michael Lockwood – and her struggles with substance abuse.
She was dedicated to promoting her father’s legacy, having become the sole heir of the Elvis Presley Trust after his death in 1977.
Along with her mother, Lisa Marie championed her father’s estate Graceland as a tourist destination and an exhibition of his life.
