After six long weeks we finally know the answer to the big question, who dies at The White Lotus resort?
There’s been a flurry of social media detectives on the case ever since a mysterious murder was revealed in the debut episode, with Quinn Mossbacher (Fred Hechinger) emerging as the top guess.
But Mike White has pulled a fast one on us with a truly dramatic finale episode to cap off the HBO miniseries, in a character death that – in hindsight – makes total sense after all.
Let’s start from the beginning.
Quinn yet again wakes up on the beach, but rather than stressing about his phone washing away in the Pacific, or rushing back to his family’s suite to have a temper tantrum, he enthusiastically jumps in a canoe with the local lads.
He’s on the verge of crying tears of happiness. Orchestral music lifts as the sun peers above the ocean.
We start thinking he’s about to get caught up in some mess and will be the character to die, given he’s the only person who appears to have found true happiness on this island.

Meanwhile Rachel (Alexandra Daddario) has decided she wants to divorce her new husband, Shane Patton (Jake Lacy) after he’s spent their entire honeymoon waging war with hotel manager Armond (Murray Bartlett).
“I think I made a mistake … getting married,” Rachel tells him. “I don’t wanna be a plus one my whole life. I’m not OK with being a trophy wife.”
Shane fights for his wife the only way he knows how. “Are you blaming me because you’re not more successful? After I’ve wined and dined you and made you the centre of life … I gotta hand it to you. You hid yourself really well. This whole time I bought that you were this cool chick. I had no idea you were this insecure, naive, baby.”
After that spiel, we have also filed for divorce from Shane.

Elsewhere, Armond tells the Mossbachers the police caught their jewellery thief, Kai (Kekoa Kekumano), who stole two $75,000 bracelets from their suite in the previous episode after his lover Paula (Brittany O’Grady) urged him to.
Paula is absolutely sick about it and seeks comfort in the arms of her bestie, Olivia (Sydney Sweeney), who immediately forgives her for the treachery.
In the meantime, Armond gets a dreaded phone call from his boss, who is en route to The White Lotus to sack him after a complaint from Shane.
Losing all will to muster what little is left of his hospitality poker face, Armond runs to do a line of coke in his office with the door wide open screaming, “F**k this place!”
After an all-day drug and alcohol binge, Armond thinks it’s a wonderful idea to go to Shane’s suite and, for lack of better phrasing, take a sh*t in his suitcase.

Shane gets wind of the faeces in his luggage and arms himself with a knife, before springing Armond and reactively stabbing him in the chest.
That’s right, Armond is The White Lotus’ fallen victim.
No one seems to have guessed it, but given his downward spiral since the first episode, it makes complete sense.
While his life meets a chaotic and untimely end, it appears the wealthy folk who slowly chipped away at his soul all go back to life as normal.
In a major about-face, Rachel reunites with Shane at the airport and wants to give their marriage another shot, Tanya finally scatters her mother’s ashes, brutally drops Belinda’s business proposal and leaves to pursue a life with the man she’s known for one day, and Paula and Olivia are best friends again all while Kai rots in a holding cell.
As for Quinn? He abandons his family as they board their plane back home and runs into the arms of the Hawaiian ocean.
