Valentine’s Day posts for WA Premier Mark McGowan flood social media with cringe-worthy proclamations of love - PerthNow

Mark McGowan’s love affair with WA voters appears to have taken an even more cringe-worthy twist, with Valentine’s Day messages to and from the Premier flooding social media channels today.

Hot on the heels of last week’s news that younger women are making up the bulk of Mr McGowan’s cheer squad, the Premier posted a very special Valentine’s Day message to WA.

“Poetry has never been my strong suit, but sometimes you just have to let a State know how you feel,” he said in the post.

The post contains a picture of WA adorned in love hearts, with the words “Roses are red, violets are blue. WA is the best place in the world.”

And it didn’t take long for his followers to declare their love for the pandemic-era Premier.

“Roses are red, violets are blue, Mark McGowan we love you 😍,” swooned another.

“Roses are red, violets are blue, the weather is hot and so are you ❤️,” said another fan — and things don’t really improve from there.

“Roses are red, violets are blue, Marky Mark... your so hot I wanna kiss you (sic),” proclaimed yet another.

“I’m still looking for a valentine Marky, you’re it ❤️,” propositioned another follower.

One woman shared a picture of herself in front of a profile picture of Mr McGowan “chillin with the man of my dreams”.

The Mark McGowan for Prime Minister Facebook group, which boasts more than 33,000 members, previewed an array of vomit-inducing posts including what appeared to be a Valentine’s Day card with the words “I love you like Western Australia loves Mark McGowan”.
