Abigail Breslin's dad dies from COVID-19 - 9Honey

Abigail Breslin is mourning her father who died after contracting coronavirus.

The 24-year-old Zombieland star revealed her dad died three weeks after testing positive for COVID-19.

"Oh wow. Hard to write this. Harder than I thought. I'm in shock and devastation," the Oscar-nominated actress wrote on Instagram. "My sweet, perfect, amazing, heroic, wonderful dada passed away after my family and I said goodbye. It was COVID-19 that cut my sweet daddy's life too short."

On February 10th, she shared the news her dad had contracted the virus, and was placed on a ventilator.

"I appreciate more than you know, the love and support my family and I have received. Mostly I want to remember my dad for who he was," Breslin wrote in the post announcing his passing.

She went on to share some of her father's favourite things in tribute to him.

"He loved a cup of coffee (black, heated up for 66 seconds). He LOVED a good Knish (but ONLY in the winter). He loved BBQ'ing (and while we loved brown mustard he only wanted French's Yellow). He loved Breyer's ice cream (strawberry, vanilla and chocolate NEO style). He loved doo-wop songs, specifically, 'I Wonder Why' by Dion & The Belmonts and 'Under The Boardwalk' by The Drifters."

She concluded the post, "And we loved him. And we always will. I miss you daddy. I can't wait to see you again. I won't ever, ever, ever forget you. To the moon and back dada… Love, yours forever, Abs."

"My family's been really important when I've wrapped on a set and I'd go home," she once told Entertainment Weekly. "It was always like a set-free zone, we couldn't talk about work, we'd just talk about normal, real-life things."
