Gary Busey was attacked by his pet parakeet while recording an appearance on Hughesy, We Have A Problem.

Speaking to news.com.au, Hughesy said the Oscar-nominated actor, 76, contacted producers with a unique problem.

“His problem was: What does he do about his pet parakeet that keeps attacking him?” Hughesy said. “As he was explaining the problem, the parakeet started attacking him. It nearly pecks him to death as we try to interview him!”

Hughesy told news.com.au he’s not entirely sure why the actor reached out to his show for help, joking: “Maybe he thought Dr Chris Brown was on it … he’s on everything else on Channel 10.”

The comedian added that Busey was “basically unhinged” and “a maniac” but said it was his pet bird that ended up stealing the show which airs tonight on Ten.

“The parakeet deserves an Academy Award,” Hughesy said.

Busey’s not the only … unique … celebrity set to appear on tonight’s episode of Hughesy, We Have A Problem.

Carole Baskin, who starred in Netflix docu-series Tiger King, will also feature in the episode.
