In news that will make you feel very old and equally heartened, Steve Irwin’s youngest child Robert Irwin has debuted his very first girlfriend.
And the son of the late Crocodile Hunter’s new love has been revealed as Rorie Buckey — the niece of Oscar-winning actor Heath Ledger.
Putting a name to Irwin’s new flame proved to be tricky as Rorie has an identical twin sister, Scarlett, who PerthNow initially ID’d as the teen from the snaps obtained by New Idea.
Rorie and Irwin were spotted together strolling along a Brisbane beach before sitting down to admire the sunset with their arms around each other.
It’s believed they had knocked off after a busy day working at Australia Zoo and grabbed burgers and fries from a local Grill’d restaurant.
Neither Irwin nor Rorie have spoken publicly about their blossoming romance.
Ledger’s nieces — who are based in Perth — are the daughters of the late actor’s sister, Kate Ledger, who owns a design and media productions company.
In the wake of Ledger’s shock death in 2008, his sister promised to keep his legacy alive by creating the Heath Ledger Scholarship for promising young Australian actors.
“Heath is hugely important in the lives of my children,” she told Who magazine in 2018.
“There’s not a day that goes by that we don’t share stories or talk about him. He is very much alive in our house.”
The sighting of Irwin and Rorie puts an end to speculation Irwin was romantically linked to Lucia Field, the daughter of Blue Wiggle Anthony Field.

Earlier this month Field —a dancer who performs in The Wiggles alongside her father — performed at Australia Zoo to celebrate Steve Irwin Day.

It appears the pair remain close, as Field attended the Steve Irwin Gala in Brisbane at the weekend.
