US singer-songwriter Cady Groves has died in mysterious circumstances at the age of 30.
The country-pop singer, known for her songs This Little Girl and Love Actually, which have had millions of Spotify streams, died on May 2, according to a Twitter post made by her brother, Cody Groves.
"@cadygroves has left this world. Details are limited right now but family is trying to get them and will keep people updated. Rest In Peace little sis. Hope you're reunited with @kellydgroves and Casey," Cody wrote on Twitter yesterday.
In the latter part of that post Cody is referring to the deaths of his and Cady’s other two siblings, brothers Casey and Kelly, who also died prematurely.
Casey died at the age of 28 in 2007, while Kelly died in 2014, also aged 28, the Spin reported.
Since his post announcing Cady’s death, Cody clarified self harm had been ruled out.
“I hate that I even have to do this, but apparently the world and internet is a cluster of twisted misinformation,” he wrote on Twitter today.
"In my original post I had stated we had no information to try and prevent that, but to expel rumours I will provide an update.
“The medical examiner has completed autopsy and there was no indication of foul play or self harm. Simply put, Cady Groves died of natural causes.
“She had some medical problems last fall and our best guess at this point until further testing is complete is that they had resurfaced. Please respect her name and family before sharing information that did not come directly from here.”
Cady, who was living in Nashville, posted about her mental health struggles amid the coronavirus pandemic on April 16.
“Some days my mental health is AWFUL,” she said, revealing she had only left her house three times in six weeks.
“I feel completely alone and scared and far from everyone I love and all I can do is keep myself busy and push through. Some days are better. I know that the way I feel isn’t special because we are ALL living through this separately but together.”
