Carrie Bickmore was caught up in a hilarious “cocktail of lies” on The Project after co-host Peter Helliar called her out for a fake confession.
On Monday night, Bickmore revealed to the audience that she’d never tried an espresso martini, but on Tuesday night, Peter Helliar returned the following night with receipts.
Presenting photographic evidence that Carrie had, in fact, tried an espresso martini at least twice, the mum-of-three was forced to confess that she had “no recollection” of tasting the coffee-infused drink.
“There was a comment made last night on this show and you said this, Carrie,” Pete began, before a flashback clip of the previous night played.
“You are not going to believe this but I've never had an espresso martini,” Carrie had said.
“Carrie, I don't actually believe it,” Pete responded at the time.

Revealing on Tuesday that “eyebrows were raised” around the office following the comment, Pete posed: “Do you remember this at our Christmas party a couple of years ago?,” releasing a selfie Carrie had appeared in with a producer from the show to roars of laughter.
“I'll be honest – who remembers anything that happens at the Christmas party?,” Carrie joked, with Pete flashing a second damning photo up on the screen.
“Do you remember this one?,” he said, to which Carrie responded “I don't remember that one!”
“Do you know, last night my friend text me and goes, ‘I gave you your first one last year, do you remember?’ I have no recollection,” she added.
In Carrie’s defence, I’m sure many of us have failed to remember a night that started with espresso martinis.
On a recent episode of The Project, Carrie shared she’s making good on her self-isolation goal.
As she and her co-hosts discussed the free time at home we all find ourselves with as the world grapples with the coronavirus pandemic, Bickmore had confessed that she’d like to use the time to brush up on her piano playing skills. The song she wanted to learn: Coldplay’s 2002 classic Clocks, with its instantly recognisable piano riff.
The mum of 12-year-old Ollie, five-year-old Evie and 18-month-old Addie shared her progress with fans, as her youngest tried to get in on the action:
No mean feat, channelling Chris Martin with a toddler on your lap.
“I used to play piano as a kid and have been inspired watching (son) Ollie play, so......my challenge is to learn to play piano again by end of ISO. Tricky to learn the second hand when little people want to join in … but we’ll get there,” Bickmore wrote.
Well done, Carrie – but please, you don’t have to be so productive in iso, you’re making the rest of us look bad.
The Project airs Sunday to Friday from 6.30pm on Channel 10.
