Scottish indie band Teenage Fanclub is returning to Australia and New Zealand in March 2024 to perform their first live shows down under since 2019.
Hailing from Glasgow, founding members Norman Blake and Raymond McGinley will tour alongside drummer Francis Macdonald, bassist Dave McGowan and keyboardist Euros Childs.
The band will perform six headline shows, starting in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Byron Bay, Brisbane and Auckland.
The tour announcement aligns with the release of the band’s 11th studio album, Nothing Lasts Forever, on September 22, which features tracks such as Foreign Land, Tired Of Being Alone, and I Left A Light On.
McGinley said of the album: “We never talk about what we’re going to do before we start making a record.”
“The record feels reflective, and I think the more we do this thing, the more we become comfortable with going to that place of melancholy, feeling and expressing those feelings,” he says.
“These songs are definitely personal,” adds Blake.
“You’re getting older, and you’re going into the cupboard getting the black suit out more often.
“Thoughts of mortality and the idea of the light must have been playing on our minds a lot … When we write, it reflects our lives.”
The Teenage Fanclub tour starts in Perth on Tuesday, March 5, at Astor Theatre.
Pre-sale tickets go on sale Thursday, July 6 (10am local time) via Frontier Touring, with general tickets on sale Monday, July 10 (10am local time) via Ticketek.
