Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reeling following a month of relentless negative press that began with the cancellation of their Spotify contract and ended with sensational claims the former royals have separated.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's bumpy month began in June with the news that Meghan and Harry's £18 million Spotify deal had been torn up after two years and just 13 hours of content.
The only project to eventuate from the deal was Meghan's podcast Archetypes, which ran for 12 episodes from August last year and featured the Duchess chatting to celebrities, historians and experts about the history of stereotypes levelled against women.
Adding insult to injury, Spotify's Head of Podcast Innovation and Monetisation Bill Simmons publicly slammed the couple on a podcast.
“The f**king grifters. That's the podcast we should have launched with them,” the American podcaster, sportswriter and cultural critic said.
The couple then faced embarassing rumours that they allegedly asked President Joe Biden to hitch a ride back from Queen Elizabeth II's funeral.
Following funeral processions, Harry and Meghan reportedly asked President Biden for a ride back on Air Force One.
A source told the Daily Mail the “non-starter” request was immediately rejected without any discussion.
“It would have caused such a commotion. It would have strained relations with the Palace and the new King,” the insider told the publication.
Days later another embarrassing story emerged which claimed the pair are reportedly being snubbed by Hollywood royalty over fears it could land them in hot water with Prince William and Princess Kate.
According to Newsnation, the couple's high-profile Montecito neighbours - which include the likes of Steven Spielberg, Julia Louise-Dreyfus and Rob Lowe - are reportedly avoiding the Sussexes so as not to alienate the Prince and Princess of Wales.
"Everyone's got a movie to sell and a Broadway play they want to debut on screen in London or West End and they know that Prince William and Kate — who are the biggest (celebrity) gets over there won't show if they think someone is friends with Harry and Meghan," an insider told the outlet.
In recent weeks, the couple have been besieged by rumours they are separating following a bombshell report by Radar Online.
"They’re trying to figure out what hit them,” the supposed insider told the website.
“Harry doesn’t fit in Meghan’s tacky Tinseltown world (and needs to) find himself.”
Amid the split rumours, Los Angeles-based journalist Kinsey Schofield claimed Meghan has moved into a hotel suite to help land her own career deals.
"One of the rumours is that Meghan has set up shop in a hotel suite across from her agency William Morris Endeavour and that she has her eyes set on bigger opportunities," Schofield recently told GB News.
"She wants to be a power player in Hollywood and that this is not the direction that Harry has any desire to go."
