The Block rumoured to be shaking up its format - Daily Mail

The Block rumoured to be shaking up its format as the hit Channel Nine show prepares to shoot new season

This year's season of The Block will begin filming soon in Hampton East, Melbourne and plans are already underway to move the production to country Victoria in 2024.

An insider told the Herald Sun on Sunday producers were reportedly eyeing potential properties in Hepburn Springs, 114km North West of Melbourne.

The houses sit on half acre blocks - significantly smaller than the 10 acre Gisborne estates the blockheads worked on in 2023.

However, filming for this year's season of the hit renovation show is due to start in suburban Melbourne, meaning producers might also choose a city location next year.

The series returned to metropolitan Melbourne this year after undergoing a 'green change' in 2022 by filming in the small town of Gisborne, 42km from Melbourne.

Meanwhile, production is almost underway for the 2023 season of The Block.

Last week, tradesmen and producers milled around five classic brick homes, which were reportedly purchased for a combined $14.3 million.

With pre-filming preparation underway on blocks ranging from 575sqm to 703sqm, it seems a second storey addition was already being added to one of the homes.

All the homes appears similar in style and build with one, the most expensive of the bunch having been bought for $3.5 million, featuring a quaint front entry patio.

Contestants won't be spread as far apart as they were last year in the sprawling Macedon Ranges in Gisborne, as this year's properties are narrowly separated by boundary fences.

The new season of Channel Nine's hit renovation show is set to begin filming within days at houses 14, 16, 18, 20 and 22 on Charming Street.

They were snapped up by MicJoy Pty Ltd, a company owned by Nine, in separate off-market deals for a whopping $14.3 million.

The most expensive of the bunch, 20 Charming St, cost a whopping $3.5m when it was bought last July.
