The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's daughter Lilibet has been christened in Los Angeles.
Key points:
- Lilibet is Prince Harry and Meghan's second child
- Buckingham Palace confirmed the couple had contacted the royal family about the event
- Prince Harry and Meghan have been invited to King Charles's Coronation, taking place on Archie's birthday
The couple confirmed the christening took place in a private ceremony in their California home on Friday.
Their daughter, Lilibet Diana, was born in June 2021 and is the couple's second child behind 3-year-old Archie.
She was not born with the title of princess, but had the title bestowed upon her last year when King Charles, her grandfather, ascended the throne.
The announcement of her christening is the first time Lilibet has been publicly referred to as a princess.
A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan said the Royal family was invited to the christening, and Buckingham Palace confirmed there had been communication about the event.
Harry and Meghan stepped down as working royals and relocated their family from the UK to the US in 2020 following what the couple perceived to be inaction by the palace on key concerns.
The pair have been invited to the Coronation of King Charles, which is scheduled to take place in London on Archie's birthday.
They have not confirmed whether they will attend, and questions remain as to where they will stay if they do given the pair was asked to vacate their UK home last week.
