Sunrise entertainment reporter Nelson Aspen names and shames the most annoying celebrities - PerthNow

In his last appearance on Sunrise, veteran showbiz reporter Nelson Aspen has named and shamed his most “problematic” celebrity interviews.

“I like most celebrities,” he said during his last live cross from New York with the breakfast show’s hosts Matt Shirvington, who is filling in for David “Kochie” Koch, and Natalie Barr.

“There must be a few duds, who’s impressed you the least?” Barr pressed.

Aspen revealed Kevin Spacey, who pleaded not guilty to charges of sexually assaulting three men, stood out as one of the worst interviews.

“He actually made me feel stupid, he made me feel embarrassed,” Aspen said.

Aspen, a self-confessed Superman freak, had shaved his head to look like Lex Luthor for his interview with Spacey, but the actor was not impressed.

Fast & Furious actor Vin Diesel was also “problematic” and once kept Aspen waiting seven hours for an interview.

“He is a marvellous interview, we just have a great rapport once we talk together, but he has a problem with inconsiderate lateness,” he said.

“The first time was seven hours late, I sat around. Then I think it was four hours, and then two hours. We work in live TV guys, you can’t be late. You can be three hours early, you can’t be three seconds late. That’s just my pet peeve.”

He also looked back at some of the highlights of his amazing 19-year tenure on the show, including speaking with Dame Julie Andrews, whom Aspen has interviewed eight times. Miley Cyrus, Lizzo, Reese Witherspoon, Jared Leto, Hugh Jackman and Meryl Streep were memorable.

Aspen made the shock announcement he was leaving Sunrise live on air two weeks ago.

But it’s not the last we’ll hear from him, Aspen has a few new ventures in the works.

Interior decorating book Your Home Is Your Castle is set to be released in September, and with a book tour and concerts planned, the reporter is set to be busy.

“I’m going to show you how to either make your new home or bloom where you’re already planted,” he said.

“Then I’ll be going on a book tour and a new concert Q&A show, so I’m looking forward to that.”
