Meghan Markle’s neighbours have reportedly given her a new nickname for calling ahead to request special seating at high-end restaurants.

Meghan Markle’s Californian neighbours have reportedly given the former Suits actress the nickname “Princess of Montecito” because of her pampered lifestyle.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved into a $AU19 million palatial mansion in the super wealthy enclave of Montecito California after stepping down from royal duties back in 2020.

The pair are known to frequent high-end restaurants where the Duchess reportedly requests special seating.

It has been claimed the hefty restaurant bills can exceed more than most people’s monthly salary.

"If she's going into Beverly Hills or West Hollywood for lunch or dinner, she'll generally call ahead and request a table that is completely secluded," a source told UK magazine Closer.

“She likes higher-end hangouts like Cecconi’s, Sunset Tower, Sugarfish or Lucky’s steakhouse on Montecito, which was recommended to them by Oprah.

“It’s become their favourite and they’re waited on hand and foot.”

The couple are also big fans of Robert De Niro’s Japanese restaurant Nobu, the source said.

“The bills can often reach up to $5000, but Meghan and her friends are happy to pay.”

Since moving to the Golden State the pair have also been spotted at the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club where the membership is known to costs almost $AU6000 per month.

The 40-year-old former actress also makes time to schmooze with her A-list neighbours, the source said.

This includes spending time at Oprah's house with her closest friend Gayle King.
