Elon Musk's transgender daughter has filed a request in the Los Angeles County Superior Court to have her name legally changed.
In documents shared online, the 18-year-old says she wants to change her name in accordance with her gender identity and because she no longer wants to be related to her biological father.
Here's what we know about it.
Why now?
Musk's daughter, who has a twin brother, has only recently turned 18.
If a name change application is filed by a minor, it must be signed by both parents.
Legal documents published online show she has formally asked the court to change her gender from male to female and to register her new name (which was redacted in the version of the documents shared online).
US media has reported that her new recognised surname will be Wilson, which is her mother's maiden name.
Author Justine Wilson and Elon Musk were married but divorced in 2008.

Has Elon Musk responded?
Not publicly.
The court documents didn't go into any further detail about the relationship between Musk and his daughter.
Reuters requested comments from both Tesla's media offices and a lawyer representing Musk, but neither immediately responded.
Musk declared his support for the Republican Party, whose elected representatives support a raft of law changes that would limit transgender rights in states across the US, just a few weeks ago — after the name change petition was initially filed.
What does this mean financially?
At this stage, it's not entirely clear.
The teenager says the reason for her name change is "gender identity and the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form".
There are no details in the published documents about whether the decision to change her name and distance herself from her billionaire father means she will forego any kind of benefits or inheritance.
The Tesla and SpaceX founder has an estimated net worth of about US$213.9 billion ($306.98 billion).
A hearing for the name change petition is scheduled for later this week (but there's no indication Musk will attend it).
What about Musk's other children?
Musk's twins, who just turned 18, are his oldest living children.
There have been no public submissions from the other twin, Griffin, of intentions to distance himself from his father.
Musk also has younger teenage triplets with Ms Wilson and shares two children with singer Grimes.
X Æ A-Xii was born in 2020, and their youngest child Exa Dark Sideræl was born earlier this year.
