Queen Elizabeth II will miss planned virtual meetings because she is still experiencing mild cold-like symptoms after testing positive for COVID-19, Buckingham Palace says.
Key points:
- The Queen tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday
- Buckingham Palace said she would continue with "light" duties
- There has been concern for her health since she spent a night in hospital in October
"[The Queen] has decided not to undertake her planned virtual engagements today, but will continue with light duties," a Buckingham Palace spokesman said.
Officials confirmed the Queen tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday.
The diagnosis prompted concern and well wishes from across Britain for the 95-year-old.
The Queen had her first vaccine in January 2021 and is believed to have had all her follow-up jabs.
She sent a message of condolence to Brazil on Monday to say she was deeply saddened by recent fatal floods, and was planning to go ahead with other virtual diplomatic audiences scheduled with foreign ambassadors, the palace said.
While she will miss the meetings on Tuesday local time, she will decide nearer to the time whether to press ahead with further engagements this week.
The engagements include her weekly conversation with Prime Minister Boris Johnson, which is due for Wednesday.
