It's easily done. Another city, another arena, another sea of faces. Of course they all merge into one another after a while.
It's why, when Guns N' Roses headed for the stage at of the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia in February 2017, you could forgive guitar tech McBob – whose job it is to announce the band every night – for greeting the crowd with a bellowed "Hellooooo Sydney!" The boos rang out loud and long.
Now Kiss have joined the geographically inaccurate club. They've also upped the stakes considerably, seeing GN'R's 900km mistake and raising it to something closer to 14,000km.
At the end of the band's set at the Stadhalle in Vienna at the weekend, the production people did what they normally do: they flashed up a message on the screens, thanking fans for their attendance: We Love You Vienna. Above was the band's logo, its letters set against the Austrian flag.
Well, that was the plan. What they actually did was thank fans for their attendance, with the Kiss logo set against the Australian flag. That's the Australia that's on the other side of the world from Austria. Two extra letters, but so much distance.
The mistake was pointed out by Twitter user Ben Nguyen, who shared the picture below.
Kiss's next show is at the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle in Stuttgart, Germany, this evening. Fingers crossed they're double-checking that message.

Prince William has been filmed yelling at a photographer for "stalking around" and filming his kids while on a "peaceful" bike ride near their home in Sandringham, Norfolk.
Prince William has burst into a fit of rage after a photographer started filming his family while they were on a quiet bike ride near their home in Sandringham, Norfolk.
The three-minute video, which was uploaded last week but filmed in 2021, showed the Duke of Cambridge telling the man off for "stalking around" his kids.
His wife Kate and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, are off camera nearby.
In the leaked footage, the Duke of Cambridge, who was wearing a down jacket, green gloves and a tweed cap, said: "You came out here looking for us".
The photographer defended himself by saying he would have stopped filming if he had realised who it was.
"You drove past our house, I saw you," Kate can be heard saying.
"How dare you behave like you've done with my children. How dare you," William said.
"You were stalking around, you were looking for us and our children. I'm out for a quiet bike ride with my children on a Saturday and you won't even give me your name.
"You're outrageous. You're disgusting. You really are. How dare you behave like that."
The video, which has been viewed more than 20,000 times on Monday, was posted to the YouTube account of Terry Harris - a drone operator and photographer based in Peterborough.
"Thanks for ruining our day," William said, after making a call to his security to explain he had had an "altercation" with a photographer.
"You knew exactly what you were doing. I thought you guys had learnt by now."
Kensington Palace has responded to the incident by arguing it was a breach of the family's privacy, The Telegraph reports.
It was not the first time the Duke of Cambridge has been hounded by paparazzi, who he blames for playing a significant role in his mother Princess Diana's death.
In 2017, Prince William spoke candidly about his mother's reaction to paparazzi in an HBO documentary about the Royal Family's struggle with media attention.
"If you are the Princess of Wales and you're a mother, I don't believe being chased by 30 guys on motorbikes who block your path and make a woman cry in public to get the photograph," he said.

Paul McCartney has used his headlining set at the iconic Glastonbury festival to pay tribute to his friend Johnny Depp.
While the former Beatle performed the song 'My Valentine', a black-and-white video of Depp – in the song's original video clip – was projected onto the screen.
The choice appears to be a show of support and solidarity for Depp, who recently was involved in a six-week highly-publicised defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard.
He didn't directly address the trial, but the crowd cheered as Depp's image appeared on-screen.
This isn't actually the first time the singer has referenced Depp on stage this year – back in May, he showed the same footage during a concert on his Get Back Tour before the trial's verdict had been determined.
The footage itself shows the Pirates of the Caribbean star with Natalie Portman, while he plays guitar and translates the lyrics into sign language.
McCartney, 80, has made history with his performance, as the oldest-ever act to headline the festival.
Some people on social media have criticised McCartney's support of Depp. "Imagine how hard it is to explain to a 14 year old boy, who sees much of life through TikTok, that Johnny Depp probably isn't the idol he's presented as," one person wrote.
"I'd done that. And then Paul McCartney, one of his heroes, blasts his image out at Glastonbury."
Others have pointed out that female artists at the festival have used their sets to discuss the recent Supreme Court ruling that overturns legal abortions.
"On one stage Megan Thee Stallion is encouraging the crowd to shout 'my body, my mother f---ng choice'," someone shared on Twitter. "On the other stage Paul McCartney is showing a video of Johnny Depp."
Olivia Rodrigo dedicated the song "F--- You" to the Supreme Court, Phoebe Bridgers led her audience in a chant of "f--- the Supreme Court", and Billie Eilish told the crowd "today is a really, really dark day for women in the US".
McCartney brought special guests out on stage for his performance: Bruce Springsteen and Dave Grohl. He also honoured his late bandmate John Lennon and performed with George Harrison's ukulele.

Was SMOKING to blame for Rupert Murdoch's fourth divorce? Media mogul's dislike of Jerry Hall's nicotine habit emerges as leading theory for the shock split
Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch disapproved of his fourth wife Jerry Hall smoking
News of couple's split came after Hall failed to attend husband's party in London
Hall has been open about smoking and said she looked 'pretty good' for her age
A theory has emerged that Rupert Murdoch ended his six-year marriage to model Jerry Hall because he disapproved of his fourth wife's smoking habit.
The media tycoon was not a fan of his model wife's fondness for tobacco and would often be spotted standing at a distance as Ms Hall took a drag on a cigarette.
The couple's split was revealed publicly when Ms Hall and her side of the family failed to attend her husband's annual summer party in London this week.
Rumours have swirled around the reason for the shock break-up but Murdoch's strong dislike for Ms Hall's smoking is a persistent theory, Private Sydney reported.
The Texan model has been publicly open about her love for smoking and previously boasted about looking 'pretty good' for her age despite her habit.
'But I smoke, I drink, I like wine, I love sun tanning, I drink coffee. I am doing all sorts of things I shouldn't do,' she told Good Housekeeping in 2014.
'I did think it was odd that she wasn't there. She's a social butterfly and would generally be at these sort of functions,' one of those present at the Serpentine Gallery in London on Monday evening said of Hall's absence from the event.
'I also noticed that none of her side of the family was there, nor her friends.'
Murdoch and Hall were last seen together in public in London in August 2021, when they were pictured arriving separately for a dinner. They are understood to have left together in a shared car.
They ended their relationship recently, surprising friends, two people with knowledge of the situation told the New York Times.
Hall made no attempt to hide her habit and was spotted smoking in the back of a limousine as she travelled with Murdoch around Australia in 2017.
Murdoch and Hall attended the belated Christmas party of then-Australian prime minister Malcolm Turnbull, and later visited Melbourne via a private jet.
At the time the loved-up couple were all smiles as they walked arm-in-arm through the gates of Kirribilli House to meet political, media, and business elite.
Hall wore a striking crimson wiggle dress and matching cardigan draped across her shoulders, completing her look with a $5,000 red Bvlgari handbag, sunglasses and a statement pearl bangle.
Murdoch and Hall paid a visit to Melbourne a couple of weeks later on the News Corp boss' Gulfstream 650 private jet.
Hall, 60, cut a slim figure in a glamorous all-white ensemble as she enjoyed a cigarette in the back of a limousine, while Murdoch, 85, looked dapper in a classic navy suit with matching tie and white shirt.
The powerhouse couple were joined by Murdoch's eldest son Lachlan, who is part-heir to the $62 billion media empire, and his wife, British-born Australian model Sarah Murdoch.
Murdoch, who is worth $17.7 billion, has six children in total: daughter Prudence MacLeod, now 64, with his first wife Patricia Booker, daughter Elisabeth, now 53, and sons Lachlan, now 50, and James, now 49, with his second wife Anna Mann, and daughter Grace, now 21, and Chloe, now 19, who he shares with his third wife Wendi Deng.
Hall was previously in a long-term relationship with Rolling Stones rocker Mick Jagger, with whom she shares four children - Elizabeth, 38, James, 36, Georgia May, 30, and Gabriel, 24 - however the two never officially wed during their 22-year relationship.
The couple tied the knot in London in March 2016 in a very low-key ceremony at Spencer House, which overlooks Green Park, after a whirlwind five-month romance.
The humble art of knitting rarely takes the spotlight, but a new performance by one of Australia's leading dance companies literally throws it onto centre stage.
Dancenorth has premiered its production of Wayfinder at the North Australian Festival of Arts in Townsville, weaving together contemporary dance, music and art.
More than 100 volunteers came together in a series of "knitting sittings" to create the woollen set and props, which have been incorporated into the choreography.
"Countless balls of wool have been used in the making of this show," associate designer Chloe Greaves said.
"Wayfinder as a work is about finding connection after COVID, and it's the idea that the people of Townsville's energy and spirit has literally been finger-knitted into the work."
The show is a creative collaboration of major proportions.
Wayfinder features the music of Grammy-nominated Melbourne band Hiatus Kaiyote and sound artist Byron Scullin, alongside the colourful artworks of celebrated Japanese-Australian visual artist Hiromi Tango.
One hundred speaker "orbs" will be scattered throughout the audience, allowing light and music to pulsate through the crowd.
"The idea was born post-pandemic, and we acknowledge the fact that there is so much fear and so much anxiety and so much isolation and distance in the world.
"We wanted to create an offering that was really counter to that experience that people have gone through over the last two years, so this is a gift, it's a beacon of hope."
Ms Greaves said the costumes were all created from donated and recycled garments and the wool had been purchased from op shops.
"Everything is second hand and sustainable and also has a life in it already, which is kind of exciting because it speaks to the journey of the work," she said.
After its local debut in Townsville, Wayfinder will feature at the Brisbane Festival in September, and the company intends to tour it internationally.
Dancer Marlo Benjamin said the performance was unlike anything she had participated in before.
"It's a really nice escape and vision for the future."

Elon Musk's transgender daughter has filed a request in the Los Angeles County Superior Court to have her name legally changed.
In documents shared online, the 18-year-old says she wants to change her name in accordance with her gender identity and because she no longer wants to be related to her biological father.
Here's what we know about it.
Why now?
Musk's daughter, who has a twin brother, has only recently turned 18.
If a name change application is filed by a minor, it must be signed by both parents.
Legal documents published online show she has formally asked the court to change her gender from male to female and to register her new name (which was redacted in the version of the documents shared online).
US media has reported that her new recognised surname will be Wilson, which is her mother's maiden name.
Author Justine Wilson and Elon Musk were married but divorced in 2008.

Has Elon Musk responded?
Not publicly.
The court documents didn't go into any further detail about the relationship between Musk and his daughter.
Reuters requested comments from both Tesla's media offices and a lawyer representing Musk, but neither immediately responded.
Musk declared his support for the Republican Party, whose elected representatives support a raft of law changes that would limit transgender rights in states across the US, just a few weeks ago — after the name change petition was initially filed.
What does this mean financially?
At this stage, it's not entirely clear.
The teenager says the reason for her name change is "gender identity and the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form".
There are no details in the published documents about whether the decision to change her name and distance herself from her billionaire father means she will forego any kind of benefits or inheritance.
The Tesla and SpaceX founder has an estimated net worth of about US$213.9 billion ($306.98 billion).
A hearing for the name change petition is scheduled for later this week (but there's no indication Musk will attend it).
What about Musk's other children?
Musk's twins, who just turned 18, are his oldest living children.
There have been no public submissions from the other twin, Griffin, of intentions to distance himself from his father.
Musk also has younger teenage triplets with Ms Wilson and shares two children with singer Grimes.
