Australian Survivor cast and crew 'collapsed on set due to punishing heat' - Daily Mail

Australian Survivor cast and crew 'collapsed on set due to the punishing heat' - as host Jonathan LaPaglia admits the weather was 'brutal'

Australian Survivor: Blood V Water is set to launch on Channel 10 on Monday.

And ahead of the season premiere, host Jonathan LaPaglia has spoken about the challenges of filming the show in the punishing heat in Far North Queensland.

'This season again gives you a slightly different look. But the biggest issue for us really was the weather,' he told TV Tonight.

'The temperature was just brutal. I thought Cloncurry [last year] was bad. But wow, this was next level. Twenty minutes in that heat and my brain just stops thinking.'

'In fact, it was so hot this season that we had several players collapse in challenges and several crew go down as well,' he added.

The Channel 10 series was previously filmed in tropical locations like Fiji and Samoa, but the new location in Far North Queensland may be the toughest to date.

The 2022 season is set to be the biggest yet, with family members playing together for the first time in the show's history.

The series will have 24 former castaways playing with - and against - their loved ones.

This concept has already been used twice before in the US franchise - in 2013 with the titular Survivor: Blood vs Water, and again in 2014 with Survivor: San Juan del Sur.

Gruelling: 'It was so hot this season that we had several players collapse in challenges and several crew go down as well,' he said

Fans were given a taste of the new season in a dramatic trailer earlier this month.

'This season each Survivor will enter the season in pairs,' Jonathan says in the teaser. 'For the first time ever, they'll be playing with a member of their own family.'

Blood V Water also features two-time Australian Survivor Season 2 contenders Mark Wales and Sam Gash.
